Description of 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 |
*Relisted* Imported from Costa Rica - Vehicle is IN PENNSYLVANIA Solid BJ40; VIN BJ40045414 CLEAN and CLEAR PA TITLE is IN HAND. You WILL be able to re-register and Title this BJ40 anywhere. No issues.I am very fortunate to have a friend in Costa Rica and he was able to locate this truck and have some work done to make it a better driver. We actually drove this all over Costa Rica and into Nicaragua for a week. Will easily do 50 mph or so on the highways here. I drove it from the docks up I-95 the day I got it in country. However, I did notice the alignment is off. I have seen a few of these for sale, but not many DIESELS. This is the original factory setup, not modified. Toyota had a factory in Central America, as such, there are plenty of parts to keep these running all over. I have seen more parts showing up on eBay for restoration. This would be a great restoration project. Pretty solid body, some rust here and there, but overall pretty good for its age. There are not any modern conveniences in the truck, but there is a place for a radio and speakers. The cruiser will start right up and Idles perfectly. The "B" series diesel motors are not fast on the road but extremely reliable and if properly maintained are known to go 500k miles. There is a fuel leak from the tank, so I strongly recommend towing it. But I am trying to get it repaired. Just ordered new tank and it will be installed shortly!!! However, I will help as much as I can if you choose to ship it. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR FAST,DON'T BUY A BJ40OR ANY DIESEL LAND CRUISER. They are extremely rugged though and can climb anything. Torque and reliability just amazing on these things. The odometer registers in kilometers, however it stopped working on the road to Nicaragua. Therefore, the mileage/km is unknown. * ALL fluids just changed out before shipping in the spring ( oil, filter, front and rear differential oil replaced, transmission and transfer case oil replaced and coolant replaced ) * The seat frames themselves are believed to be original stock from 1981. The Land Cruiser is in pretty much all STOCK except for the brakes * The paint is in OKAY condition, but it is a very attractive blue with white top. * BRAND NEW FIRESTONE DESTINATION SVT All Terrain x 4 tires * Original Stock Land Cruiser Steel Wheels in the attractive white finish * Coming from Costa Rica, there is no heater or AC unit; however, I have seen aftermarket units available. * DISK BRAKES operate as they should * No issues with CLUTCH, very easy to drive * No issues with "B" Diesel Engine and if properly maintained will last the buyer a long time * ALL lights work properly * New heavy duty battery * Added gauges for oil, battery and temp * NO issues with the 4 Speed Stock Transmission. The Transmission in these BJ Land Cruisers are extremely stout, very reliable I can't give the cruiser away but I have set the Reserve fairly based on its rarity and condition. I try my best to be fair when selling one of my cruisers. I just want them to go to the right people. Please bid with confidence. ANY questions you might have please do not hesitate to contact me.
