Description of 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser VX 4WD |
This is certainly one of the most unique and impressive vehicles available. It is both sleek and gnarly, ready for any adventure. It cruises happily along the highway at 80mph or tears through the roughest back roads. It was imported from Japan and has a clear title. The engine starts instantly and runs like a racehorse. This is a legendary engine, and has been known to go a million kilometers. At this point it is just catching its stride. Inside it has all the bells and whistles: altimeter, heated seat, temp guage, sunroof (that works great, never leaked). The A/C needs a shot of freon and the automatic antenna raise/lower is a bit tricky but works. It has a PTO winch that was recently completely serviced and could pull ANYTHING. The right hand drive comes naturally really quick and never ceases to make folks grin. Stop beside a cute chick at a red light and you're right beside her. Parallel parking is easier. Checking your mail is a breeze. Cops just smile and ignore your speeding. These awesome rigs are getting hard to find because they all get sold to warlords and megalomaniacs in Russia, Africa and the Middle East. It makes me want to mount a belt-fed weapon on the roof and head back to Afghanistan. I'd take this beast over a clumsy Humvee any day. It is not perfect cosmetically, but this rig is not for sitting in your garage. By and large it is in amazing shape. The carpet and uphostry are almost mint. Sure there are some cracks in the vinyl, a little bit of body battle scars, but what are you expecting for something with this pedigree? There is almost no rust underneath. The passenger window switch needs replacing. I recently had the transmission rebuilt and the front wheel seals redone. It doesn't need anything to go on a thousand mile adventure. All work was done by Steve at Overland Cruisers in Bozeman, Montana. Feel free to call him and ask about it. He liked it so much he put it front and center on his website. I've had some wonderful times with this awesome rig, but I've gotta pass it on. You can arrange shipping or I'm willing to drive it to your door anywhere in North America that is connected to me by highway for $200. Seriously. I love driving it. Or you can fly to Bozeman and I'll put you up for the weekend in my guest house on the Yellowstone River. You will not be disappointed in this vehicle and it will only go up in value. The totally sweet long horns are negotiable. By the way, this thing is way cooler that a Land Rover (Super unreliable, always blowing head gaskets) or the clumsy HUMVEE (take it from an Infantry Combat Vet). It is magically vintage, exotic, practical and reliable. It is beautiful without being gaudy. Retro without being cliche. It is, well, perfect. It is for sale locally, so I could end it early. |
