Description of 1987 Toyota 4Runner |
Last week time this was up for only a few day, an offer was made for $6000 and I accepted it so I am listing for a few days at that price. The ebay member who made the offer that I accepted failed to make a deposit and offered zero communication. If you want to buy outright or make an offer please contact me and let me know you are ok with either cash or cashiers check as a payment and a $500.00 deposit 48hrs after the offer has been accepted, otherwise I will not accept your offer as a precaution. I will happily provide additional photos, talk on the phone, shoot videos. I am selling this because I have an option on a Land Cruiser and need to free some funds. Condition is a #4 according to this scale: https://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/classifications-and-conditions. Mechanically the chassis, drivetrain is top notch. Body has a surplus of off-road dings and dents...nothing major...this truck deserves a paint job and prepping will require minor body work. Considering the climbing value of these 1st Gen 4Runners it's worth the investment to paint it. I hope to pass this truck on to an owner who is going to dial in the cosmetics while enjoying the genius of the design. The performance modifications alone on this truck would set you back the asking price. It has all the key upgrades that don't diminish reliability but add performance and capability. Engine: 22RE motor that made Toyota name synonymous with reliability. (Always in the lists of top 10 combustion motors)Odometer reads 109k because a previous owner swapped the old instrument cluster with one that has a tachometer. VIN records put it at ~160K (Engine has been recently rebuilt with performance part less than 30k miles ago according to previous owner. I did not get documentation when I purchased but block paint and freeze plugs still shine with good compression 138+) and based on the power it I have no reason to believe otherwise. No smoke, no knocks, no issues. The head has been more recently rebuilt with new lifters and RV cam the machines stamped his name on it... alot of care when into to this motor. I was going to open it up to see what was done but it's just too fun to drive. It has K&N mass air flow intake, Electric Fan, LC Engineering header with 2.5"exhaust all the way back (sounds awesome) NEW Fuel tank, (complete fuel system overhaul, lines have been flushed from tank to injectors) Recently replaced, belts, plugs, filters, battery, distributor Drivetrain: NEW heavy duty clutch. The front differential has new seals and CV boots. Fresh lubricants all around with magnetic drain plugs. Suspension 3" lift by Trailmaster lift with NEW sway bar Bushings 33" Tires with 50% tread remaining (Comes with full-size spare) NEW Pro Comp shocks all the way around. Chasis and Body: Longtime Texas (El Paso) truck solid undercarriage freshly undercoated and painted absolutely minimal surface rust. (I have before photos so you know what you are getting) First Generation DLX model (Has the convertible roof) Dark charcoal gray exterior and light gray interior cloth. (power windows)Has a tow hitch The bad: If you can do body work and have an upholstery guy or gal you will make money on this truck...considering the market you will still do very well if you dial in the cosmetics. It's 30 year old truck there are some parts missing: roll bar, window trim, arm rest pad, rear wiper parts. The headliners are damaged and some of the trim pieces are cracked, along with passenger front seat tear in fabric and cracking on the passenger dash. There are two rust spots size of an egg on the body that have been addressed. I've made it sound really bad here on purpose. The price is firm and fair at $6000.00. I'll consider trades but require at least $4000 in cash. (Trade items of interest: project classic vehicles, vintage lightweight travel trailer or Class B RV, diesel engines, pre-1975 trucks, rare motorcycles, artwork, tools) Reasonable offers will be accepted. I prefer texts if you want to set up a time to see it or leave a message and I'll call you back if you want to discuss. Vehicle is located in Lubbock Texas however I am headed to CA in a week and could possibly deliver in that direction. This truck is locally advertised locally on craigs list and the listing can end at anytime. Why it's a keeper, a rare combination of reliability and desirability.https://www.cheatsheet.com/automobiles/hagertys-10-future-classics-to-buy-right-now.html/?a=viewallNew high water mark $18k for original condition. https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/263688038162?nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l10137 Legendary durability ... for your viewing pleasure Top Gear Episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFnVZXQD5_k” keywords: 4runner, hilux, crawler, marlin, jimmy, bronco, charger, ram, blazer, landcruiser, scout, jeep, fj, pickup, 4x4, 22re, sr5, bugout, overland, camping, diesel, rav4, highlander, pilot, ridgeline, amigo, pathfinder, xterra |
