It has so many new parts with very little remaining required. It runs and drives well enough, comfortably enough, and reliably enough that if I might consider it as a reasonable first car for someone except that it’s way too cool to risk getting smashed by a new driver. I have focused on making this one of the nicest, most practical, and comfortable to drive example of a gen one that I’ve ever seen. I drove it and camped in it across the west coast with my girlfriend with absolutely no trouble at all. It can go freeway speeds all day. There is no structural rust evident. The bed has some rust. I had the drivers side of the bed repaired professionally at a body shop. That side is missing the vinyl decal. The passenger side of the bed could use some attention but as is will lastsome years. The cab is in great shape. A couple small dings here and there. You can see them in the pics. I have a few spare parts that will come with: the original carb and some intake parts, a new timing chain kit for 75,000 miles from now. The camper top has a approx 6 inch crack in it. I sealed it with silicone and it’s been just fine. The Thule carrier is super cool and period correct. I have two keys for everything. The winch works. Interior was in great shape and has been refreshed. Marine grade abs gray burled door panels, new dome light cover, newer floor mats, plastic dash board cover with small crack. I will include in the sale a not yet installed new carpet. Vinyl seat covers over original gray sr5 seats. Passenger seat is in good condition but drivers seat has a t shaped tear along the entrance side. The air conditioning works. This is a fabulous example of a well kept and partially restored mostly stock gen one pickup. Where adjustments from stock have been made they have been made with an eye for reliability, comfort, performance and minimal modification. I built this with the full intention of it making it another 200,000 miles. It has some tools including original jack. The bad:Most of the smog equipment has been removed. The temp sensor is currently installed incorrectly and temp reads high even though it’s normal. When it first happened I was hitting it with a laser thermometer constantly. It stays within normal operating temp. You can tell if it’s getting warm because the temp reading goes from on the brink of too high to much to high. It’s an easy fix to put the sensor into the right place. LCE Performance can help. The issue hasn’t really bothered me.I would do the front axle seals sometime in the future if I was keeping it.It is an old truck with small squeaks and imperfections here and there. The bed has some rust. This is my daily driver so mileage will increase slightly prior to delivery. |
