Description of 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo Widebody |
Up for sale is a 1991 Toyota MR2 turbo with widebody kit. The car is not in running condition, and has been sitting since 2013. You should treat this like a "barn find," and expect that it will take some time, work, and money to get this car operational. Luckily, I registered the car as non-op status in California, so the new owner will not have to deal with any back registration expenses. The car has a widebody kit installed (was completed by a prior owner, and I'm pretty sure it is aftermarket, and not the offical TRD kit), Greddy exhaust, HKS blow-off valve, ADR wheels (standard fronts, deep-dish in the rear), and a JDM motor. There are 180k miles on the chasis, but the motor only has around 80k. Since it is a JDM motor, there is no EGR valve present, which will cause problems with smog check, at least in California. Also, I had issues passing smog due to the timing belt being in Japanese (however, I'm sure the belt is dry rotted by this point and would require replacement anyway). Also included is a Pioneer flip-screen DVD player, speaker boxes behind both seats (speakers are present), a turbo timer, aftermarket fog lamps, and xenon style headlights. The car does not currently have a battery installed, so I cannot guarantee the functionality of any of the electronics. Rodents have gotten into the car and destroyed most of the wiring in the engine bay, so a complete rewire will be necessary. On the plus side, the interior is in decent shape for its age, with no cracks in the dashboard. The driver's seat shows wear, but the passenger seat is in better shape. There is a rodent smell in the interior, but that is to be expected. At least the car was never smoked in, so that's a plus. The car spent it's life in California, so it is mostly rust-free, with the exception of the trunk compartment. The seal on the trunk compartment gave out at some point, causing flooding in the trunk, which led to surface rust. I had to dispose of the carpeted trunk liner, so it comes as-is. I purchased the car in 2008 with 179k miles on the odometer. The paint was already in poor shape when I made the purchase, and the car had a blown head gasket. I put about $4,000 into the engine to get everything up and running. The car was barely driven, and when I stopped using it around 2012, there were no mechanical problems. I had always planned to do a full restore on the car, but I just don't have the time or interest anymore, so I'm hoping someone can put it to good use. The buyer will be responsible for transporting the car.As mentioned before, the car is not in running condition, so please make sure the shipping company is aware when making arrangements, or bring your own trailer. Full payment is expected withing three days of the sale date, and I would prefer if the car could be picked up within seven days of sale. I have the car listed locally too, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if I find a local buyer. If you need more info, or additional photos, please contact me. Thanks for looking! |
