Description of 1987 Toyota Corolla Sport GT-S |
Up for sale is a 1987 Toyota Corolla SR5 fully converted to GTS specs. This means it has the OEM GTS fuel tank, complete LSD rear end with disk brakes, bell housing, 4AGE engine, wiring harness, emissions equipment, gauge cluster, etc. It's a very clean and complete conversion with power steering and factory A/C. The car had all original and working California emissions equipment. I deleted the EGR as the car is titled out of state. I will include the working EGR setup with the car if you choose to put it back on. Cosmetically the car is quite nice for its age. It's a non-sunroof late production white coupe. Being a California car, there is no rust. I don't see any indication of frame damage. The car was repainted at some point in the original white color. The paint is decent except on the front fenders where it looks fine from 6ft away, but is splotchy up close. There are some scratches and light dings - basically things expected from a Corolla this age. The interior is all there, except for the trunk where it was removed by a previous owner. I just had the windshield professionally replaced with new glass. It does have one blemish on the dashboard and some wear on the seats and interior. The A/C needs to be recharged. It was working several years ago, but the freonhas escaped since then. The cluster shows over 200,000 miles, but is not original to the car or engine, so I am honestly not sure of the chassis or engine mileage. The previous owner claimed less than 100,000 was on the engine, but I cannot verify it. Mechanically, the car is great. Other than some ticking on cold start, it runs and drives very well. No whining or pop outs from the transmission. Idles fine at 850 rpm with working idle up. Suspension is super tight and responsive. I purchased the car to enjoy as a clean basically stock example of an AE86. Having several highly modified AE86's, a stock car is rather fun and refreshing. I've since decided to part ways with this coupe and focus on my other AE86's. Within the last three months, I have done major maintenance on the car including: - Valve adjustment- New valve cover gaskets- New NGK spark plugs- New OEM rotor and cap- New intake manifold gaskets- Cleaning of throttle body- New throttle body gasket- Ultrasonic cleaning of IACV- New IACV gasket and o-ring- Injectors professionally cleaned and flow tested by RC Injectors- New injector caps and o-rings- Replacement of various vacuum lines- New accessory belt- Full fluid replacement (Rotella 15w40 engine, Redline MTL/shock proof transmission, Motul 90 differential)- New OEM oil filter- Replacement of rear main engine seal- New Exedy clutch and pressure plate- New clutch slave- Complete bushing replacement with Prothane urethane bushings (including swaybars)- Alignment- Winmax W1 front brake pads- New windshield wipers (keep the new glass clean and scratch free) The car is basically a stock GTS, except for:- Prothane bushings all around- BC Racing coilovers- Injen intake (brand new)- HKS radiator cap (brand new)- Cusco front strut bar- Pacesetter exhaust manifold- OBX Trust-DD style exhaust- Adjustable panhard rod- Stainless braided brake and clutch lines- Work Equip 01 15x7.5 with new Dunlop Direzza 195 tires- D-Max front carbon hood- NRG quick release- MOMO steering wheel- TRD shift knob- IS300 pedals The price is $13,000. Yes, it seems high for a converted SR5, but this car is cleaner than most GTS'. Plus, you get a non-abused SR5 chassis. If you want it cheaper, I can keep the Work wheels and give you stock rollers. Car is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Note: Please be serious about purchasing the car if you contact me. I tried to represent the car as honestly as possible, but it is a 33+ year old vehicle and will have its issues. Ask any questions you have regarding the condition of the car prior to purchasing. The car is sold AS-IS with no warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. |
