Description of 1991 Toyota MR2 |
2.2L 5S-FE inline-four, normally aspirated, 5-speed manual transmission, T-top MR2. Nearly totally stock and all major systems are running strong. Black exterior / blue cloth interior. Clean title and Carfax history. This MR2 has so much going for it: the A/C runs cold and the heater runs hot; the headlight motors work; the transmission shifts smoothly; cruise control works; no dents, dings, or rust; T-tops are leak-free; interior is so clean I can only assume the previous three owners shared my policy on no smoking, food, or drinks. Aquired in 2016 from someone who stored it in a heated airport hangar, I have kept it year-round in my own garage since. I never drove it in snow, and almost never in the rain. The only fuel I put in it is 91 non-oxygenated. Purchase includes original items:
Some signs of age:
From the Carfax history 04/04/1990 Car shipped to original dealer in Evansville, Indiana. 08/18-20/2009 serviced and offered for sale with 26,233 miles by Kenny Kent Toyota in Evansville, IN. By the end of the next month, the car was at Carmasters in Los Angeles, passed emissions testing, and a new owner was reported. A window cling shows it had an oil change on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood in 2009. In April 2010, the car was registered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with 28,082 miles and the third owner is recorded. There are four records of maintenance inspections, oil and filter changes, and or fluid checks from 2011 to 2015, with two of the services performed at Luxury Auto Mall and two at Billion Motors Toyota in Sioux Falls. Other known history The third owner had the doors repainted above the body trim line after a bad buff job. In 2017, I replaced the fuel door spring, brake pedal cushion, and the grommet for the frunk hood support rod (all Toyota OEM parts); my mechanic changed the oil and oil filter, drained and refilled the cooling system and transmission fluids, and welded the heat shield bracket on the exhaust. In 2018, my mechanic replaced the cigarette lighter assembly/stay/cover (Toyota OEM) and diagnosed/fixed a compartment light switch believed to be the source of an electrical draw running down the battery but even afterwards I kept the car on a trickle charger because I drive it so rarely. Also in 2018, I had a dent (1/16-inch deep and 1.25" long) removed by "paintless dent removal" after a bicycle fell against it in the garage. We replaced the headlight lamps this summer and I've been driving it a few times a week lately to make sure she's running and ready for you. I have really loved this car and I sincerely hope you will, too.
