Description of 1985 Toyota 1/2 Ton Pickup |
Up for auction is a 1985 Toyota 4-wheel drive Custom Cab, with the legendary “straight” front axel. 1985 was the last year the solid “straight” axel was offered on the 4-wheel drive models. This Toyota is offered with a Clean Carfax. It appears the last owner had this Toyota restored, as it was repainted and reupholstered throughout. The bed was replaced with this custom made flat bed that is made to haul any motorcycle or atv toy you have. This Toyota has A/C, Power Steering and starts right up and runs right and straight. Brakes are in great shape too. Tires are in great shape and the legendary KO2 by B.F. Goodrich. This Toyota shows no signs of rust anywhere. It is truly one of just a handful out there, with the straight axel set up and a Custom Cab. What is a Custom Cab?? In the 1970s and 1980s, before Toyota was allowed to sell a 5-seater in the U.S. market, a company out of California called Fabco was allowed to produce a Toyota-approved process for making extended cab pick-ups that could seat 4 to 5 people. The trucks were bought by a customer at a local dealer and then the dealer would send the trucks to the "stretch shop". The stretch process would run approximately $5000. Keep in mind a Toyota truck would cost about $6,000 to $12,000 dollars, then spend another $5000 for the stretch job. The modification was named a "Custom Cab" and was performed on Toyota regular cab trucks from about 1976 to 1988. The process would include stretching the frame some 48 inches, adding a fiberglass molded cab, a three-person seat (making it a 5-seater) and a full roll bar for safety. The truck was cut, placed on rails like a limo job and then the truck would be returned to the customer as a Custom Cab. It is estimated some 2000 of these trucks were stretched. There is only a small handful of these left in the United States. Bid with confidence. I have owned alot of classic 4wd Toyotas over the years and still have quite a few in my warehouse.Unfortunately, I can't hold to all of them. This a great rig and very unique and rust free. I am not a dealer, just now able to afford the cars I grew up seeing in the 1980, that I thought were too cool and one day I would own and enjoy. On Sep-28-24 at 16:57:54 PDT, seller added the following information:The bad. 1) fuel gauge does not function2) AC blower motor does not function properly. AC works great3) rear lights have issues. As this is not the original bed.Otherwise this is a great truck with original miles and rust free. Remember this is almost 40 year old truck. But has a lot of life left to live. Just needs some attention.Bid with confidence |
