Description of 1988 Toyota MR2

The car has a 5-speed manual transmission. The sun roof comes out and stores in the front trunk…it’s very nice to drive the car without the sun roof in the summer. The sun roofs are better than t-tops since they don’t leak! The engine is naturally aspirated. not a turbo. I’ve put a lot of time into this car since I bought it. Here are some of the things I’ve done:1) Sandblasted and powder coated the rear control arms; installed new outer bushings2) Replaced master and slave clutch cylinders3) Installed new spherical bearings in shift linkage front and rear4) Thoroughly cleaned the interior including removing the carpets and seat covers for cleaning. It didn't have any problems. I'm just thorough. 5) Replaced window gear on passenger side however the window is operating intermittently. I checked continuity but my guess is that the contacts need cleaning or the window control module needs replacing. 46) Installed new leather shifter boot7) Wrapped the steering wheel in leather8) Replaced the speaker under the driver’s seat9) Sand blasted and repainted the seat slider rails10) Installed new front driver’s side wheel shield and rear engine shield11) 4 wheel alignment12) Replaced the parking brake cables13) Replaced the rear calipers and installed new pads14) Mounted stereo and fixed the wiring from the previous owner15) New air filter16) Replaced the missing clips from the trunk and a bunch from the interior I just finished powder coating the gold rims shown in the pictures. I have over 8 hours in each rim! The tires are brand new. The car comes with a set of beat up rims with bald tires on them for snow tires. The car has a small rear trunk and a front trunk. It’s actually a fair amount of room. The engine leaks a little. I have a lot of parts I have not installed on the car to fix the leaks. replace the timing belt. and do a bunch of other maintenance things. The uninstalled parts include: 1) Timing belt kit with tensioner 2) New belts 3) Valve cover gaskets and bolt seals 4) Oil cooler hoses. gaskets and seals 5) Water pump (because it’s easy to do while changing the timing belt) 6) Seals for the side engine covers 7) Distributor cap. rotor. spark plugs. and Hawkley (twosrus. com) rebuild kit (not that it needs it but I was having fun working on the car) 8) Hawkley oil pan baffle inserts The A/C works well. The OEM security system is disabled but I have all the parts. The car drives very well and is a ton of fun to drive. It has adjustable dampers Eibach springs which lower the car a little. I’d like to keep it however I just bought a 1990 Eagle Talon and I want to put my money and time into that car instead. The car is insured. newly inspected. and on the road. It qualifies for antique insurance so I only pay $200 a year with a good stated value. no restrictions on use. collision. and comprehensive with low deductibles. Contact me if you'd like to come look at it and test drive it. Low reserve.
