Description of 1973 Triumph Spitfire |
For sale is a beautiful 1973 Triumph Spitfire Mark IV 1500 with it's original, atching numbers, ngine and transmission. The car was made while the factory was upgrading the Spitfire model from the MK IV to the 1500 and this car has both sets of badges. The engine is the 1500cc engine from the later 1500. Car was restored to a good driving condition about 6 years ago by my father and I. Restoration included repairing all body work and a professional paint job. New interior and convertible top. Refresh of the engine, ransmission, lutch, uspension, rakes, nd carburetor systems. New wiring harness installed (no more prince of darkness Lucas electrics!) New gas tank and new electric fuel pump. All chrome trim and bumpers are original and have been polished. Car has black leather seats and custom made denim seat covers with Union Jack Flag insets (Black leather gets hot on a summer drive!) All gauges are in good working order and we added anauxiliarytemperature gauge wired into the thermostat. Also added an electric fan to the radiator and have had no overheating issues. Original wood dash has been re-veneered and looks great. The frame was cleaned of rust and POR-15 coated. The body work and paint job is absolutely stunning and really shine. You won't find a nice painted Spitfire. Since the restoration was completed this car has been a reliable driver that I would take down to the beach for the weekend or cruise around in style. The car has sporty handling and feels like a big go-kart. A great car to cruise in and enjoy the scenery. There aren't too many Spitfires around and everywhere I drove it I always got people giving me thumbs up and coming over to ask about it when stopped. It's a great "see and be seen" car and holds its own against the all the muscle cars at cruise nights. The last time I entered the car in a ranked show (all british) the car scored an 85 out of 100. I was very happy with that as I built it to be a driver and not a show car. However the car has sat for two years and life has gotten in the way a bit so it's time to sell my baby. I want someone else to enjoy it as much as I have. The car still starts and runs great however the clutch fluid disappears (no puddle beneath the car) and the clutch starts acting up when driving. It could be as simple as bleeding the lines but I haven't been able to look at it in depth. The engine bay could use some fresh paint and line organization and the car would really be in perfect shape. A great car for someone looking to have a unique car to drive and tinker with! The perfect hobby car! The car is located and can be seen in Kutztown, A. The buyer will be responsible for shipping. I'm asking $8500 but feel free to give me a counter offer. I think that is a fair price for the car and it's condition. Thanks. |
