Description of 1973 Triumph Other 2 + 2 SPORTS COUPE |
I HAVE OWNED THIS STAG SINCE 2003. ORIGINALLY A CALIFORNIA CAR I FOUND IT IN CANADA AND DROVE IT ALL THE WAY TO AZ WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. I DOUBT THERE IS AN OUNCE OF CORROSION ON IT. !!IT RUNS VERY WELL. IS ALWAYS AN EASY CAR TO START. EVEN IF LEFT IN STORAGE FOR LENGTHY PERIODS. HARD AND SOFT TOPS ARE INCLUDED. THE SOFT TOP HAS A FEW NICKS AND IS RARELY PUT UP. BUT THE MATERIAL & FRAME IS LARGELY GOOD AND SO IS THE PLASTIC REAR WINDOW. THE HARD TOP IS WHITE. RUST FREE. BUT YOU MIGHT CHOOSE TO REPLACE THE HEADLINING. THE COLOR IS ''FRENCH BLUE'' ALMOST A PASTEL SHADE OF BLUE AND THE VINYL IS BLACK WITH ONLY A VERY TINY NICK IN THE PASS. HEADREST. THE HARD TOP ROOF HAS BEEN RE-PAINTED WHITE [AS ORIGINAL]. THE PAINTWORK OVERALL IS NOT PERFECT AND IF LOOKING TO IMPROVE THE CARS APPEARANCE FOR SHOWS ETC A RE-SPRAY MIGHT BE CALLED FOR. IF USING IT AS AN EVERYDAY CAR. IT'S PRETTY GOOD. THE DOOR PANELS AND CARPETS WERE REMOVED [IN THE TRUNK PIC] TO ILLUSTRATE JUST HOW CLEAN & CORROSION FREE THE CAR IS. THIS CAR DOES NOT AND NEVER HAS SUFFERED ANY OVER-HEATING PROBLEMS. EVEN SO. ONLY RECENTLY. I FITTED AN ELECTRIC FAN [ORIGINAL AVAILABLE. IF PREFERED]. THE VISCOUS COUPLING WAS SEIZED SO I DECIDED TO ADD THE ELECTRIC FAN WITH A CAPILLARY THERMOSTAT. IT LACKS THE ORIGINAL PARCEL SHELF UNDER THE GLOVE BOX. THE DASH VENEER WAS RESTORED LAST YEAR. VARIOUS SMALL ITEMS [FRONT BADGE. MIRRORS. SIDE LIGHTS ETC. ] WERE REMOVED BUT WILL BE ADDED BEFORE SALE. THE CAR HAS SAT HERE IN THE DESERT FOR A FEW MONTHS AND COULD DO WITH A ''DEEP CLEAN'' BUT I WANTED TO GET THE PICS ON-LINE ASAP. MY SON IS ARRIVING FROM THE UK SOON. HE WILL BE BRINGING ABOUT A DOZEN SMALL ITEMS WITH HIM [LIKE THE COOLANT THERMOSTAT. VARIOUS NEW RUBBERS. THE MISSING GLOVE BOX CHECK STRAP ETC. ]IT HAS BRAND NEW TIRES AND A NEW BATTERY & ALTERNATOR. ITEMS REPLACED OVER THE YEARS INCLUDE ALL NEW PLASTIC STEERING JOINTS AND VARIOUS MINOR ITEMS. THE REAR BRAKES COULD DO WITH AN OVERHAUL. IT ALSO HAS THE HIGH TEC ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEM. EVERYTHING WORKS. !!On Dec-24-14 at 20:34:44 PST. seller added the following information:ADDITIONAL INFORMATION UPDATE. 24th. DECEMBERTHE PICS ABOVE WERE TAKEN A WEEK OR SO AGO. WHEN IN SONORA. WE ARE NOW BACK IN AZ HAVING TRAVELLED THE 400 OR SO MILES. THE HARD TOP IS BACK ON BUT THE BACK WINDOW IS INSTALLED ONLY TEMPORARILY WITH TAPE. I HAVE THE RUBBER MOULDING BUT FEAR I MIGHT NOT GET IT PROPERLY INSTALLED [A DIFFICULT JOB I UNDERSTAND]. SO ONCE THE HOLIDAY IS OVER I INTEND TAKING IT TO A SPECIALIST FOR A PROPER INSTALLATION. A FEW DETAILS FROM THE TRIP. THE OIL PRESSURE REMAINED [HOT] AT 50lbs. THE COOLANT WAS BELOW THE CENTER MARK [i. e. cool] THE ALTERNATOR/BATTERY STATE PERFORMED NORMAL AND THE FUEL CONSUMPTION AVERAGED 23 mpg [80% highway. 20% traffic]. I WILL ADD A PIC OR 2 OF THE CAR WITH THE ROOF ON ASAP. On Dec-25-14 at 12:06:46 PST. seller added the following information:I HAVE JUST BEEN ADVISED BY EBAY. THAT BECAUSE I LISTED 24 PICS ORIGINALLY. THAT I CANNOT NOW SHOW ANY NEW PICS ON LINE. IT APPEARS THAT THE ONLY WAY THAT THE HARD TOP PICS CAN BE SEEN. IS BY SENDING ME AN E. MAIL [THROUGH EBAY] AND REQUEST ADDITIONAL PICS. ONLY THIS WAY CAN IT BE DONE. THANKS. DEREK |
