Description of 1979 Triumph Spitfire |
This is an Absolutely Magnificent 1979 Triumph Spitfire with 21,190 original documented miles. According to the previous owner, this car underwent a $12,000 Full Frame Off Restoration and sold at Mechum Classic car auction for $15,000 five years ago. I bought this car three years ago on eBay for $9,500 and have enjoyed driving it in Sunny Florida. Since purchasing the car, I have overhauled the brakes (new disks brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear), re-built the carburetor, and replaced the steering wheel and shifter knob (just because the leather on the old ones were cracking). I am offering this car as a No Reserve Auction and a “Buy It Now” price of $10,000 ************************************************** Located in Lakeland, Florida (Winner must come get car or arrange for transportation. Because I trust this car, if you live within a 200 mile radius of Lakeland, Florida, I am willing to drive the car to you for just $150 extra.) ************************************************** I reserve the right to end this auction early as the car is for sale locally. Feel free to contact me at 706-326-2706. ************************************************** Without hesitation…one of the nicest '79 Spitfires you will find in the country!! This automobile is absolutely amazing!! ********************************************** It is often said that a picture is worth a thousand words; therefore, I’ve taken many close-ups of this magnificent motorcar to show every inch of this car’s beauty. I have additional Photos and Video of this car. Videos show all turn signals, back-up lights, brake lights, headlights, and gauges working. Videos also show car being started, backing out of the garage, moving down road, transitioning between each of the gears, and getting up to 60mph. Photos and Videos were taken on 11 September 2016. The Triumph Spitfire was designed as an economy British sports car similar to Austin Healey's Sprite and MGB's Midget. These cars provided a sports car enthusiast a cute, economical sports car to drop the top and head out for a "Sunshine Cruise". The Spitfire is a much smaller and lighter version of the Triumph TR6. The Spitfire is powered by a 91 cubic inch four cylinder engine with a Zenith carburetor and backed by a four speed transmission. This Spitfire was originally white, but painted red during restoration. It is accented with a new black soft top, chrome luggage rack and a set of Triumph's factory rally rims carrying 175/70R13 tires. During the three years that I owned it, I upgraded some of the interior – putting in new 3-point seat belts, a new steering wheel, and a new shift knob. The AM/FM stereo appears to be aftermarket. (During the three years in which I owned the car, I never tried to get the stereo to work. The stereo does get power as you can see from the videos, but sound does not come through the speakers.) The is a Cute, Sporty, and Economical car that is ready for some Fun in the Sun! By far, one of the nicest and cleanest Triumph Spitfires you will find anywhere in the country!! Runs down the highway at 70mph with ease!! Great handling!! All gauges working correctly. Convertible top boot included. This exquisite automobile is a great investment quality automobile!!! |
