Description of 1962 Triumph Other

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very nice and straight early TR-4 for easy restoration. This car was recently purchased from it's long term Texas owner from the mid-1970's who attempted some restoration work through his ownership, but with a family couldn't find time. At some point, the car's doors, hood and trunk were painted as a jump start to the cosmetic restoration. The only mechanical work that was needed at the time was a rebuilding of the master cylinders and a radiator clean-out. The mileage reads around 62,000 with the seller verifying.
The body and chassis on this car are excellent with no signs of any major damage. There are some straightforward rust repairs needed to the outer rockers and some pictured spots on the front driver's floor and mid passenger floor. The fenders are excellent and this car has been garaged forever, so it doesn't suffer from any other TR4 rot. The trunk floor is solid. Nice front and rear inner fenders. Very good to excellent panel fit. Super nice shape to all 4 wheelarchs, which always seem to get hurt on these cars. The doors are loose on the car but comes with all the necessary parts that were carefully removed. Perfect grille fit and beautiful original grille. Great panels. Some repairable minor damage under RH rear valance to wing area. Undercarriage/suspension would respond well to a stiff steam cleaning. All of the chrome is present and includes the solid aluminum windscreen finisher unique to the early cars. Also included is a jack and handle and some original tools, correct and original air cleaners, front medallion, lettering, etc. The seats have been reupholstered and are very nice and useable. Tires are nearly new. Original top frame/ instruments/ switch gear/ rare radio console. The engine in the car turns nicely by hand and could run with little work. These early Triumph engine and gearboxes are very sturdy units. This engine features the short manifold and early H6 carb setup which is correct for the car. The engine bay appears highly original.
The car includes some original items like the Lucas distributor cap, coil, Lodge plug ends. A full matching numbers car including correctly sequenced engine number, body number, original VIN plate, etc.
Overall, a very good car for straightforward restoration, having been well-preserved and off the road in a Texas garage for years.
