Description of 1978 Triumph Spitfire |
This 1978 is not the typical Spitfire, as it has had a few modifications to go along with its restoration. The car is about 95% complete. It needs seals and paint. The prior owner put about $20,000 into this car, and I can show all receipts. He performed a frame off restoration, but decided to sell before he finished it. You can see from the photos that he didn't skimp on anything. The car is basically set up as a race car, with a fuel cell in the trunk, kill switch, 4 point harnesses all glass removed (except for windscreen), and larger cam and Weber carburetor. It also has hard to find overdrive!! Everything works on this car, and it is fun to drive! Stock Spits put out about 68-76 HP... This thing puts out about 115 HP!! Floors were replaced during the restoration. Interior is really nice with new interior door panels to go with it. I have another project I would like to focus on, hence the reason for selling. Come take a look any time. It fires right up with the automatic choke and Flame Thrower ignition. I also have miscellaneous parts that go with it (New Bumper, trim pieces, etc). This car gets a lot of looks and questions as it is. If someone put a little more time into it, it'll get even more!! Car only has about 2000 miles since engine rebuild and chassis restoration. I can show all paperwork/receipts for serious inquiries. Too much has been done to this car to list! I can also show parts that could go with it. It is cross posted to other sites, so if it sells it will be removed. Contacts me with any questions. Car can be shipped, but it will be at the buyer's expense. On Jun-06-17 at 05:29:01 PDT, seller added the following information: A couple updates: This was a California car, so it was completely rust free before the restoration. The engine was completely rebuilt. New pistons/rings, cylinders bored, new camshaft, reconditioned crank, head was resurfaced, new valves, springs, etc. Essentially, it is a new 1500 engine. The chassis/suspension is all new; you can tell by looking at the photo. Old reconditioned parts were not used, everything was bought new and replaced. All shocks are new. The front springs are new, lowered to 6.875". All receipts and paperwork showing what has been done to the car will go with it. The car is posted to other sites, so if it sells on another site, I will end this auction early. A lot of misc. parts will go with the car. I mentioned a new bumper above, but the bumper I have actually goes to a different car. |
