Description of 1967 Triumph TR4A Conv

Being listed for a short 5-day auction for sale to the highest bidder, is this sought after last year of production Triumph TR4A. Scarcely found in this straight condition, with the early type straight axle which was always the choice for racers. More predictable in driving and less troublesome than the IRS model with all of its parts that wear and break. This car was a former amateur race car from the state of Kentucky, that has been in storage probably since the 70's, and is in its original state except for the fender lips were rolled out (not cut) to accommodate larger tires back in the 60's or early 70's when this car was raced by the previous owner's uncle. (Still wears its wheels and tires from the track!) The fender lips could be reformed to original rolled edge by a good bodyman, although I do have separately a couple of original fenders if the winning bidder wants to buy them.Appears to have its original paint coat, and in a most desirable seldom seen black, which really sets the car off with the chrome brightwork. Certainly this car will be stunning when restored to its former glory!
A relatively small amount of rust when compared to the average TR, showing some scale on the original floorboards, right side upper quarter panel rust that as is typical (this is the only fender that will need patching or replacement), and a small area on the passenger rocker panel. I checked the inner rocker panels and they are not rusted through anywhere and are very solid. The frame looks very good front to back overall, and is very straight and solid, with some surface rust, although I did picture a small spot of rust through about 2 inches long and a half inch wide on the right rear frame extension, but it is not in a structural area and easily patched. A good eye will observe that in the important areas of the body shell, such as the inner fenders, under the hood at the sides where the fenders bolt on, and the upper rear deck, all of those areas are very solid and appear rust free. Please ask questions or come view the car, since a 50 year old car is difficult to describe in entire detail. It is a very good example for restoration as it is original and complete. Some gauges were missing as was the wood dash. I may know of some gauges for a reasonable price, although they are common & fairly cheap on eBay, and the wood dash panel is available from a number of suppliers.I have not tried to start this car, but the engine does turn. I lowered the top (with a lot of penetrating oil on the frame rivets!) for ease of pictures. The top will need new canvas. It is pictured outside a British car restoration shop in Knoxville, TN, where it will need to be picked up and hauled on a trailer or transport truck that the buyer will be responsible for bringing or hiring.
I have troubled over letting this car go, as I worked hard to talk the heirs out of it over a long period, and had great intentions to restore it, but my having too many projects gives you this brief opportunity.
I offer this car in its as is condition with no warranties or representations, described as best as possible but recognize it is a 50 year old car. I have clear title in my name, which will be provided upon full payment. I expect the winning bidder to pay a $500 deposit upon auction end, by Paypal or wire transfer, within 24 hours of auction end, with the balance due in 10 days by cash, cashiers check, or wire transfer. If by Paypal, add 3% to cover their fees. I will mail you the title after full payment. I can assist with meeting your shipper if needed. It should be picked up in 3 weeks unless other arrangements are made prior to auction end.
