Description of 1974 Triumph TR-6 |
This Triumph TR6 just came out of eight years of climate controlled storage after the owner passed away. This is one of four TR6's he had (all at one time). I just posted a half-hour long Youtube video of this car - pictures in the sun from all angles, in the shop under florescent lights, driving it top-up and top-down, and pictures of the frame, suspension and engine compartment. Youtube test drive -----> https://youtu.be/YJh3LTzlZUY This car looks great. It sounds even better and everything works. I made an effort to show that in the video. The engine starts every time, right away. It's got plenty of power and the gearbox is smooth. The overdrive works perfectly and drops engine RPM by 500. The synchros feel great. You can downshift all the way to 1st, shifting fast, and not hear a single tooth complain. All the lights work - the license plate lights, the courtesy lights, the glovebox light, the hazard lights, and every instrument light. The heater and wipers and windshield-squirter all work. You do have to push the horn button just right to get a beep, but I'll have a look at that. It has the original jack and lug wrench, a new fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, radiator and a fresh tune-up. The suspension is tight and the convertible top looks brand new, as does the snap-down cover that goes over it. There are some everyday scratches and a couple of dents. This car was originally yellow as can be seen by the floor pan and trunk area. There are two rusted areas on the ends and inside of the rocker panels and another beneath the rear bumper. They are non-structural, out of sight on non-painted surfaces, but should be cleaned/sealed/patched eventually. I include pictures of these areas above and again near the end of the Youtube video (link above). A frame shop inspected the frame and checked the suspension. The frame has no rust issues, just typical surface rust, and is accident-free and straight. The suspension is tight (ball-joints/tie-rods/bearings). Watch the video! Feel free to contact me with questions. Would like to sell before the snow really flies here in MN. Bottom line - this car is solid and a blast to drive. It's not for petting. It's for driving. You will not be disappointed. Thanks for looking. |
