Description of 1974 Triumph TR-6 |
1974 1/2 Triumph TR-6 with factory hard-top. Custom Drivetrain with Chevrolet 2.8 V6 and Automatic 700R4 transmission . I am the second owner since 1984.The engine was replaced in 1987-88 out ofa wrecked low mileage 1987 Camaro. The setup worked very well with no vibration, no overheating, good mileage, smooth shifting and considerably better performance than stock. The bad: The car was repainted in 1991 in Porsche Guards Red. The car was chemically stripped to bare metal and then repainted. Unfortunately, it appears that all the chemical stripper was not adequately cleaned off some of the metal which caused the paint to separate from the car in areas. These areas have been somewhat protected with a rust encapsulating paint or have been covered with some grease to protect from further rust. There are small pin holes through the rear quarter panels where dirt collected above the tail-light boxed-in sections. The dirt was removed from these areas and no additional corrosion has been seen there. There is a rust perforation in the bonnet at the front edge. The car isnot currently runningand has sat for approx 20 years. The mechanical problems were a bad brake master cylinder and a failed in-tank fuel-pump.It would not take much to get the car running but since my plan was to complete a frame-off restoration, I did not performthe repairs. I can discuss getting the car started again with the prospective buyer. This was the first car I owned and I am reluctant to sell it but quite frankly I don't reallyfit in it anymore at 6'4" and 240lbs :) Low reserve. Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have,Richard Supplied parts: (new parts from The Roadster Factory)
On Dec-16-17 at 14:21:24 PST, seller added the following information: Additional photo added to show rust on leading edge of hardtop that wasn't mentioned. The folded metal edge is lifted from rust in one area and rust is starting on the opposite side. |
