Description of 1961 Triumph TR4 Convertible |
A true "BARN FIND"! 1961 Triumph TR-4. Commission# CT/2582L (Only 2648 cars were made this first TR-4 production year in 1961) This is a true “Barn Find”. I pulled this out of an abandoned home after being parked in its garage for over 35 years. I saw it through a garage window over a year ago and just recently tracked down the property owners in another State last month. I purchased the vehicle without even getting close to it. My intentions were for my wife and me to restore it back to original and keep for ourselves, however, it’s too much for us to take on at the moment. This will take an individual with previous restoration contacts and knowledge. I’ve attached the email verification, and have the certificate from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust showing its production date of 27 December 1961. (See photo of the Heritage Trust report) In my opinion this was the prettiest original color combination made: Paint – Spa White Interior – Red (leather) Top – Black Top This car is absolutely all original (except convertible is now white) and needs COMPLETE restoration. There is no sugar coating this. Please remember that it’s been sitting in an abandoned garage for more than 35 yrs.!! I have no further details about this car. This will be an extensive undertaking by anyone that purchases it. Mileage is unknown. Note: I have the passenger’s side seat frame and door panel in my garage that is not in photos. Does not run (I haven't even tried) and needs extensive restoration work but, it’s all there! Frame has been looked at by an established British car mechanic, and he stated it looks structurally sound and straight. He couldn’t believe how well the door and hood gaps still line up. I can’t find many other 1961’s for sale anywhere on the internet or magazines. This will be a no reserve auction starting at $5,000. I cannot supply transportation/delivery costs, and it will be your responsibility to pick up in CT within 7 days of purchase. Cert Bank Check or Cash please. $500 deposit due within 48 hours of purchase. Sold as is. Bill of Sale only. No titles for vehicles this year in Ct. This will be an incredible car if you have the time and money for a complete restoration. The left rear wheel is locked up. Good luck to all Triumph enthusiasts! A great project and a very rare 1961 TR-4! |
