Description of 1978 Triumph Spitfire

Up for auction is a 1978 Triumph Spitfire. Commission number FM70002U. Trim C74 / Paint 19. In 2010 miles were confirmed @ 41. 619. Today miles show 42. 99. Miles will change because I drive it whenever I can. PO said when he purchased this in 2010 it had been sitting in a barn for 10 years or more. He shipped it to Florida and started to restore it. He installed a 4-2-1 header. new Monza free flow exhaust system (very nice sound). new poly bushing thru out. new wide radiator. adjustable gas shocks. monolite steering wheel. stainless steel brake lines. new front calibers. pads and rear shoes and new battery. I rescued this LBC in January. 2013. The PO had to move and did not have the time or the urge to continue the restoration. It was not running when I got it. I installed a Crane 700 ignition system. new clutch and slave cylinders. a new poly transmission cover. replaced the water pump and fan. Cleaned and repainted the wheels and installed a used set of Pirelli P4 tires. The differential was removed. opened up. inspected; cleaned and fresh fluid was installed. Also a drain plug was installed while it was out. New u-joints with grease zerks in the end caps were installed on the half shafts. New slip yoke type driveshaft was installed. Also the u-joints have the grease zerk on the end caps. Interior has been refreshed with new seat foam. newer carpet. door panels and convertible top. Windows are very nice and clear. The left qtr window has a very small crack in it. Wood dash panel and top of dash is in good condition. ALL electrics are in working order. There is NO rust on this car except for the rear valance. right side of the trunk floor and top of the right fender. While in storage. mud daubers made a nice home in this area. Please see the photos. A new rear valance is included. The other parts are available from any of the major suppliers. Transmission was drained and fresh fluid was installed. Transmission has no noise and shifts very smooth. Engine runs very nice and strong. It has @ 140 lbs of compression in all 4 cylinders. This car runs and handles great.
