Description of 1973 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

Up for a no-reserve auction is my 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle. I have owned this beetle for the last 4 years and have basically completely restored it to better than new condition. This is a beautiful show quality bug. I purchased it from a family friend who completely restored it back in 1991. He showed it for a couple years and then parked it in his shop where it sat for the next 18 years. After I bought it, had the body completely gone through. It didn't need much but any areas of concern were taken care of. This bug is rust free. It was then painted VW Aquarius blue. This was all done by a local, ery reputable shop that does award winning work. The finish was completely buffed to a show quality shine. It has one-piece door windows, haved front turn signals which are now mounted in the bumper, ustom low-profile taillights, ella headlights, nd all new weather seals and glass seals. All glass is in excellent condition. It has the Empi 8 spoke wheels, djustable air shocks in the rear and lowered front struts and springs. The interior was still in beautiful shape since it had been stored indoors. I built a custom rear deck to match. The front seats are out of a Nissan Stanza and the rest of the original interior was redone to match. I installed a Kenwood CD player with 2 6.5" door speakers, 6x9" rear deck speakers and 2 10" subs mounted under the rear deck powered by an old-school competition grade Zapco amplifier and MTX crossover. It has a new Scat Drag Fast T-handle shifter and a leather wrapped Grant steering wheel. The front trunk was custom finished with full carpeting. The motor was professionally built back before it was put into storage so it is very low mileage. It was built by a very respected VW shop in Spokane, A by the name of Bow-Wow Bugs. It is an 1835cc motor. It has a Bugpack header and dual exhaust. The heater system was removed to clean up the engine bay ( It was never going to be driven in the winter! ). I had all of the engine tin and alternator painted to match the exterior. I just put a new set of Empi HPMX 40 dual carbs, etronix Ignitor electronic points with the Flame Thrower coil and a set of aluminum finned valve covers on it this spring. It has the .009 distributor. The mechanical fuel pump was removed and I put an electric fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator on. The fuel tank was removed and completely cleaned and all fuel lines were replaced. I also put a new brake master cylinder and wheel cylinders on.
I have put alot of time and money into it but right now I don't have the time to enjoy it and I hate to see it just sit. It does have a few things that should be addressed that I haven't got to yet. The front seats are not currently bolted down and will need some mounting brackets made since they are out of a Nissan. There is also no front seat belts installed in it at this time. The speedometer needs a new cable to be operational. The odometer reads just over 28,000 miles and is not operating because of the speedo not working, herefore the true mileage is unknown. The fuel gauge doesn't read accurately. There is a crack in the center of the dash. I have the wiper arms but they aren't installed at this time ( I never drove it in the rain! ). I also didn't rebuild the brakes when I replaced the wheel cylinders. They are starting to pull to the right. Two of the tires have developed a very slow leak, robably valve stems. And last but not least the oil drain plug could use a new gasket because it has started to drip a little oil.
This is a beautiful bug and has plenty of power to scoot down the road. The clutch is excellent and it shifts through all the gears flawlessly. I haven't put probably over 500 miles on this bug since I've owned it. I have a file folder full of receipts from when it was being built the first time and I have a clean and clear Washington title in my name ready to sign over to the new owner. I believe the pictures will better describe it and I also included a video found below the pictures.
I have described this vehicle to the best of my ability. Please ask any and all questions you might have. It is being sold as-is with no warranty.
