1964 VW Notchback 1500 S Sunroof. Imported into San Jose, A in 1964 where it remained until 2007. Very well documented car and apart of the1500club.com Check out their website for a complete history on this beautiful and rare 1500 S Notch. Incredibly original including the driveline, ll sheet metal, loor pan, nterior (except seats have been recovered once) and the exterior has be repainted one time in the correct "Perlweiss". The paint under the roof and trunk, nterior, tc is all original! Engine has received loads of recent maintenance and runs like a top, ith no smoke, nd loads of power. Brand new Coker classic tires 100mi ago, ew rear wheel cylinders, onverted to 12v just a couple years ago, ew shocks and ball joints just 1,000mi ago, tc. $3,000 in receipts over the last few years. Beautiful clean, ice glossy paint is A+ driver quality with only a few chips and blemishes, traight, nd original car. Golde sunroof mechanism was serviced a few year back and works excellent with zero leaks. Headliner is mint, oor panels are excellent with only a few blemishes on the drives side. All rubber is in good order, arpets are clean, arcel tray was added. Really hate to see this car go............ Here is a brief description i wrote up regarding the drivability and functionality of the car.............The Notchback fires right up with 1 turn of the key and 0-1 pumps on the gas pedal. Holds idle nice and easy, evs quickly and smoothly with no hesitation or flat spots. Makes ever bit of the 72hp that it came with from the factory. It drives smooth and dead straight, o clunks or odd noises. Turns sharply and the steering is nice and tight. The car has received all new suspension components in the last 2k miles. The brakes work amazing and are all original drums (new rear wheel cylinders). The clock, as gauge, peedometer, dometer, eadlights (high and low), unning lights, rake lights, urn signals, orn, nd dome light all work perfectly. The bulb to light up the license plate is out. The speedometer needle has gotten a bit "sticky" with all the humidity we've been having. Still works, ut sometimes I'll have to tap the face of the gauge to get the needle to move to its correct spot. It didn't do that when I first got the car from out west so that's why I believe it's humidity. The tires are brand new Coker Classics with 300mi on them ($600+) I drive the Notch at 70mph on the interstate with no problems. The car does not smoke or sputter at all. The motor runs perfectly, mooth, nd strong. You can hop in it, nd drive it anywhere. The car does drip a little oil (like all air cooled VW's) but I've never had to add any and it doesn't show on the dip stick.
