Here is a rare 1961 VW 23 window samba bus that i am listing for the first time since its rescue a few months back after sitting in the woods for almost 25 years. I have pictures of its owner and family on Daytona Beach in it from 1969 on vacation here. It has all the number plates on it, he m code plate behind the passenger seat and the one on the firewall in the engine compartment. All the numbers match the ones on the original title I have.
The front floor rot has been cut out and a new one installed, new rag top as well as most of the rollers or sliders have been replace and the top works great, he grooved golde handle is in great shape and present. It has a good running single port motor installed (not sure if it is correct for the bus) with a new alternator.
New front door latches have been installed. It has the clock, peedo, teering whee, eluxe horn button, ll the spoon latches, olde grooved rag top handle, ullet front signals and aftermarket rear lens and bezels.
This bus has not been wired using the original wiring but has been wired to simply start it and drive it although it has no brakes.
It has the orginal 4, 5 inch wheels. All the original seats were stored in a barn (including the middle one)so they never got rained on or damaged by the weather and are in great shape other than needing recovered. All the skylight rubber is new but installed on some undesirable glass just to keep water out for a change.
Both lower doglegs need replacing
Both inner and outer rockers need replacing but I have the lower molding for both sides
The cargo floor needs replaced but all the rust has been cut out and plywood is there just to hold the seats for now.
All the cross braces are there and in good shape.
The main frame on both sides has no rot but needs some of the belly pan ground off
Under the front nose is in good shape
The lower side doors will need some work
Also the inner part of the spare tire section will need some repair
the rear bumper is the only part i believe that is missing
the bus jumps out of gear in the 4th gear unless you hold it in.
