Head turning example of the fashionable VW camper. The T3 series has more room and sophistication than it's predecessors. These are the vans famous for rugged lengthy excursions across the globe. This particular vehicle has been developed to an ultimate hill climbing and freeway cruising pinnacle. The transmission was just rebuild by Wrights Gear Box of RiverSide. They make custom transmissions for sand rail racers. This gear box has taller rations and higher quality internals. It works well with the torque from the Chevy V8. Cruising RPM are low. This means it's very quiet and smooth. Can cruise easily all day at 70 mph or even 80 mph even up hill. Engine stays at 180 F at all times. That is achieved by using two radiators and custom coolant expansion management. Over heating has never been an issue, ven though I have climbed mountains and driven in the dessert heat. The custom GoWesty springs raise the van 1 1/2 inches and the custom valved Bilstein complement the ride. If you are looking for a camper you can go anywhere in with a little style and comfort this will do that. Comfortable bedding, urround sound with drop down display video. I have owned this van for 5 years. I got it legally registered with the State of California as a VW Chevy. This took me two year of work with the BAR referee making sure all the items to be smog complaints were added. We have traveled from our home in LA to Grand Cano, ake Tahoe and all over Southern CA. Now we have our heart set on an AirStream trailer and are offering this van for sale. If I was keeping the camper I would hook up the AC. It needs a bracket fabricated to mount the compressor to the engine and run a belt. If you are going to do a lot of high speed freeway cruising I would recommend up rating the front brakes. There are companies that make bolt on kits and vastly improve the standard brakes.
