Description of 1982 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon |
I got this vehicle from an Auto Repair Shop that took on this Project about four years ago. The piston had shot thru the head. The previous owner used this van to travel throughout North and South America. The shop acquired a replacement head and had the engine machined with new pistons and all new gaskets and basically new parts except the block itself. It took about two years. By the time it was completed the owner no longer wanted it and I got it just Recently. The vehicle can start up but it had no oil pressure. We don't believe it ran long enough to do damage but I am auctioning it as is. The research we did we don't think the oil pump was primed right and it likely needs an oil pump replacement. We don't know for sure. Miles show 092112 so it has an hundred thousand mile digit reading 0. If you have any questions please call 228-731-4555 On Oct-28-15 at 09:20:05 PDT, eller added the following information: Update. A person that seen this listing called and claimed to be an expert with this vehicle. He talked the mechanic thru some tests and likely diagnosed the problem. We are doing the repair and hope to have it completed tomorrow or Friday. If all goes well this vehicle will be sold in running condition with a freshly rebuilt engine. Also we figured out how to put the top up and I removed the seat covers to find out the interior is in really good condition. This vehicle can easily be restored to original splendor. Again any questions please call me at 228-731-4555 On Oct-29-15 at 08:49:37 PDT, eller added the following information: Update, echanic made the changes and the vehicle was showing oil pressure, owever after it ran awhile it seemed to develop internal damage, o my guess is that the motor will need to be rebuild again. The shop that originally did the work had a really hard time with it and prob wasn't qualified for the work done. Again if you have any questions please call me at 228-731-4555 Thank You. |
