1985 Volkswagen Vanagon
This ol' babe is the cat's pajamas. I love this vanagon and I'm certain you will too. My fiance and I just recently took several road trips including a 1000 mile round trip journey to Orlando, L this past summer. I built a custom bed platform, hrew a full size bed in the back, nd never lost a wink of sleep during our camping trips. This is a true adventure machine.
The good:-Runs Strong-Solid body-Clean interior with low wear-New Starter-Perfect glass all the way around-wooden bed platform-custom hand-made curtains-Fun paint(?)-Heat works-I would drive it anywhere
The not as good:-Not the fastest car on the road, ut if you're looking for a vanagon, ou probably already know this.-it's 31 years old, o it's not perfect.-a/c isn't hooked up-a couple of dents, ut nothing heartbreaking (pictured)-CD player blew a fuse-Odometer doesn't work so the miles are an estimate (I use a speedometer app on my phone and haven't skipped a beat)-The gas tank needs resealing, only put 9 gallons in at a time and it has been fine, ut I'm including a gas tank reseal kit. If you are even mildly handy, ou can reseal the tank in an afternoon. Easy job.-Oil is slightly leaky from the oil drain plug. I think the plug was crossthreaded when I took the vanagon to get it's oil changed when I first got it. I simply put leak seal in every time I change the oil and hit the road and it seems to do the trick for a while. I always keep an eye on the level when I take longer trips.
I bought this Vanagon last April from a guy that has worked on VW's for 30 years. He recently pulled the engine and put all new gaskets on everything. Could probably use a tune up or something, ut she starts every time and runs strong. As-is. No warranty and all that jazz.
