The appeal of this 1978 Volkswagen Super Beetle is black & white, literally. It's the kind of classic convertible that has been given all the restoration, servicing, and enhancements that you would do if you had the time and budget. Thankfully, this one is ready to go today in an affordable package.Owing a convertible Bug is already a great classic car experience. Volkswagen knew how to produce these bodies with a Teutonic tightness that was still simple to maintain. It is a level of fit and finish that makes the Beetle an enduring icon. Adding to this durable feeling is a full restoration that made sure the body was in the best condition. From there the two-tone glossy black and white paint was added. It coordinates particularly well with the shiny new top (w/glass rear window). But what really tells you this is a great total package are all the details that look great. The bumpers have a mirror shine; there's a new convertible top boot; fresh rubber on the running boards; and the factory sport wheels have been media blasted and refinished. It even still has its correct Karmann fender tags from the assembly plant. The interior follows the exterior color scheme nicely. It looks exceptionally fresh thanks to new white seat covers, headrests, and door panels. But the carpeting and rubber mats are still done in black, so you don't have to worry about removing your shoes before hopping in and going for a ride. From behind the factory wheel, the VDO gauge pod gives you all the info you need. The interior of this VW continues to carry that simple and sturdy feeling that comes from decades of building these cars correctly. Still, there is room for upgrades. You see it in the center console with the always-welcomed cup holders, the retrosound AM/FM stereo looks period-correct but has a USB plug-in for more modern music players, and behind the full carpeting are upgraded Kenwood speakers. The 1600 cc flat-four is exceptionally robust and accommodating to modification after all, the first Porsches have their roots in this engine block. So it should be no surprise that this custom Volkswagen has been given some nice upgrades when the motor was rebuilt 100 miles ago. It's been enlarged to 1640cc, a Dansk heat exchanger was added, and given a single-tip sports exhaust. It was not just built for better performance, but also to give you the reliability expected of the sturdy Beetle. It includes a new clutch for the four-speed, valves, alternator, distributor, carb, and so much more that we'd run out of room listing them all he new components. Instead, give us a call, and we'll tell you all about this thoroughly well-restored Bug. Plus, as many VW fans already know, this is a Super Beetle.
