Description of 1964 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic |
For sale - 1964 Type 1 sedan in great shape. I have owned this bug for almost 10 years now and it has been my daily driver for most of those years. It has proven to be dependable and a great car. I am selling it now that my wife and I have a child and we need more space. I am looking for the right owner who will continue to care for it for many years to come. This could easily be someone's daily driver without having to do any work. Over the years I have made some upgrades, such as 12 volt conversion with alternator, top end overhaul, new seat vinyl, new carburetor, remanufactured flywheel (6 volt) and new clutch, and new master cylinder. It has a 1300 motor that was replaced by one of the previous owners. Originally, the car was sold here in California to the mother of a VW salesman. I purchased it from a retired gentleman who hardly ever drove it. It currently has 104683 miles on it. The top end was overhauled a little before 100k and everything was in excellent shape with no need for repairs or replacement of heads, just new gaskets all around. It is in need of new paint. The previous owner had repainted it, but did not have it done well and it is starting to show in places. There are some paint bubbles and chips, but overall, it is still a decent paint. I am including a quart of Gemini blue, which is the interior color, that I was planning to use for the exterior. It was never in an accident while I owned it and was garaged or covered during the winters. Other known issues are that it pops out of reverse if the speed picks up too much, but this is likely just an adjustment in the linkage. It also has the typical rust on the passenger floor pan area. The engine lid works but the area where the spring attaches has popped off on the inside and will need to be repaired when the car gets repainted. |
