Description of 1972 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon |
1972 VW Safare' Camper bus. Beautiful rust free California camper with rebuilt 1600 dual port upright engine. NO RESERVE. Buyers set the price. OVERSEAS BUYERS, I will deliver this camper bus to your shipper in the LA Long Beach area for no charge and ensure it is safelylogged in and all the paperwork is order with your shipper. Bid with confidence. We will help get it to your shipper. Over $10k invested in this camper. You see high-top Safare' campers but very rare to see these tin-top Safare' campers. More desirable interior layout than a westy. Table comes down to make a single bed, or rear deck folds forward for a large bed. Has real electric fridge and propane tank. The upright engine replaces the pancake. Uprights were used into the late 70's on non US buses for a good reason. They last! 72's did not have access covers for the pancake engine in the US so this fixes that factory mistake. Non US had the right answer by using upright engines like this one. All proper shrouds and mounts are made for the upright conversion, and we used it all. This camper was stored for 20 years. It has a rebuilt 1600 dual port upright engine with 12 month warrantee. $2100 spent on the engine build at a professional shop.Plus all the extras. List of new items: Engine, Alternator, fuel pump, mechanical advance electronic (no points) distributor, flywheel, bearing, clutch, tires, seat covers, door panels, headliner, paint, windshield and rear glass seals, doors and hatch seals, battery, trans checkedand is good original, muffler and pipe, numerous parts seals and lenses. For southern California buyers, the parts were from Wolfsburg West, J Bugs, Car Craft, G&G parts. Many receipts. Camper interior kit is"good" original condition and was not touched, so has patina. Has a vintage AM/FM 8 track player but we left the speakers off when new door panels were installed. Not sure if it works. Bus has about 200 miles on it since finishing. Runs great. Still tuning, tweeking, adjustingand refining as we get it back on the road. We saw no trouble rust areas before paint. Still has dings etc. and not perfect as you can see in pics. Did not want to make this a $20k camper. This is a great daily driver that is not over- restored. I have a new propane small camper van stove that I was going to install on top of the fridge cabinet but I was told the stock configuration had the long propane line that allows using a portable stove on the pop up shelf or even on a table outside the slider. So did not cut the cabinet top. I am selling it with no reserve because it will sell well, and stands out as a great mid-priced camper. The items listed were done to the bus, but it still is a 45 year old bus and will have usual wear and issues. Roof racks included but not the long board. Please ensure this is the camper you have been waiting for. Ask your wife first! Sold as-is with no warrantee, except the 12 month engine warrantee passed on from the builder. Title clear and in hand and registered for California roads. $500 deposit in 24 hours, balance in 3 days. Can store the bus for 30 days or more while you get transport. But payments are made on time or we move to the next bidder. No complaints please. Also listed on The Samba. Bidders with no history or with accounts just opened will have their bids removed by ebay.
