Description of 1971 Volkswagen Squareback Type 3 |
||||||||||||
This is an original 100% rust free un-restored California Type 3 Squareback. It doesn't get much better if you are looking for an untouched wagon. The car is a solid one owner car without a spec of rust or repair. The body is superb. There are dings, dents and various imperfections. Small hit on the passenger front is the most significant damage, but the beauty of this car is that nothing has ever been touched up, painted, or repaired. Front hood opens and closes fine. What you see is what you get.....a completely honest and rust free body and chassis. The paint finish has a lustrous shine and is ALL original, never been painted never been touched. The car still bears both front and rear"blue and yellow" license plates which verify it's California heritage since new. All heater channels are a+ along with the battery tray that still has factory coating. Mechanically the car is sound and runs extremely well. The 1600cc (original) fuel injected engine sounds very healthy and does not leak, smoke, or make any unusual noises. The acceleration is positive and the car has a lot of pep. The clutch feels great and shifting through all the gears is near effortless. The brakes, steering and suspension all feel solid and tight. The entire drive-train is great! -The odometer is not registering the miles, so we cannot verify the actual mileage. -Fuel gauge needs a new sender in the tank The interior is very nice overall condition. -Nice door-panels -Carpeting has normal wear and tear but still presentable -Headliner has imperfections -Dash has imperfections -Nice door-panels -Beautifully properly redone front and rear seats -Comes with original front floor mats (pictured below) -Aftermarket radio was tastefully installed -Rear view mirror is broken (left over pieces are in glove box) -No sun-visors The chrome is in good overall condition with a lovely shine. There are some bumps and bruises on both the front and rear bumpers. -Nice stock wheels with shiny original dog dish caps -All tires hold air however they are old and we recommend them being replaced The new owner will be pleased with the overall condition and the lovely patina this car has. This is the perfect car to restore and make perfect or drive and enjoy as-is.
