See video -- click here "That. Is. Cool." You'll hear that a lot. It's a 1970 VW Beetle. Sometime in its history someone saw the potential of making it something more, replacing its metal fenders and hood with fiberglass, adding dual carbs, aluminum valve covers, an alternator, gauges, purpose-built shocks and a powerful sound system that sounds good. I put on some new EMPI wheels and new tires last month. A new muffler, battery and electronic ignition too. And an electric fuel pump. Paint is an aging utilitarian gray, no good to show but perfect for a Baja built to be used. It runs well; I recently drove it seven hours from Colorado to south central Kansas. What else do you need to know that the video doesn't show you? Well, the seats adjust by wrench, to stay in reverse you must hold the gear shift, and the fuel gauge sender starts telling you you're out of gas at about 3/4 of a tank. Its a solid a Baja, good for woods or beach, mud, dirt or desert. And wherever I've taken it, whether on mountain trails or grocery shopping, it gets noticed.Yes, it comes with the luggage.
