Description of 1974 Volkswagen Squareback |
Barn find! Very solid car, low miles, all original parts. The story we got with the car is that the previous owner bought it in the early 90s with a bad transmission, had the transmission replaced (I have no documentation) and then the injection died and he gave up. Car was literally in a barn for many years. My husband bought it to put back together and drive, but he has too many projects going! We put some 80's snowflake wheels on adapters on the car because we had them and because there are no good tires available for the original wheels. Tires are brand new. OE wheels are also included - there are five of them in the car and a set of caps. Car DOES NOT RUN, and has not run in a long time. It will need the injection system overhauled and repaired (or replaced with aftermarket), or a carburetor setup, or whatever direction you decide. If you put a battery in the car, it lights up and cranks over smooth. The engine appears to be a factory build and sounds like a healthy motor cranking. 1800cc. Husband pulled the alternator belt off to crank it because it was shredded, and that's literally the only work he's done to the car. NOTHING IS MISSING! All the tins are nice, even the exhaust looks OK. Obviously the brakes will need thoroughly serviced, and the car otherwise checked out carefully. The interior is all there but will need serious cleaning as various small critters have been in the car over the years. This is a PROJECT and is being sold AS-IS. Will deliver within 20 miles of 44052 for free. Otherwise the pickup and shipping is buyer's responsibility! My husband is happy to show the car to potential bidders at his shop in Lorain, OH. |
