Description of 1974 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Westfalia-Werke K-G Edition |
I purchased this bus in 2015. I replaced the entire interior including upholstery, headliner, side panels, and rubber flooring. The Z-Bed completely folds out to a queen sized bed for camping. All the glass was removed and the bus was then completely repainted inside and out. All new rubber was used when windows were replaced. The front windows are originally tinted (not polarized) at this time it received a brand new windshield as well. Mechanically the bus is excellent. The previous owner had just installed a newly rebuilt transmission. All the lights work correctly. The original tent look great, colors are brilliant. Since I purchased it, I continued the restoration from the cosmetics to completely going through the mechanics of the bus. This example has the original and extremely rare sink, stove and fridge. I pulled the engine and had a high end quality rebuild done on the motor by an experienced Volkswagen technician. I went through the brakes and had new brand brake booster, wheel cylinders (front and rear) and the brake shoe set. What you have now is an absolutely beautiful classic bus that runs as good as it looks. It merges into traffic with ease and can pull hills without losing speed. It starts easy regardless if it is cold or hot out. Accelerates super smooth with no flat spots or hesitation. Stops, steers, and shifts better than any bus I have ever driven.
