Description of 1987 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Syncro "Weekender" |
I bought this a year ago for a temporary driver. It's originally from the West Coast and is really is nice considering its age and the good use its given over many years. The original owner was a local library in Washington state before moving to California, thence Ohio and finally Pennsylvania. The paint is collecting stone chips, which I've covered with rust converter that you'll see in the photos. The windshield has a large stone crack on the passenger side. It was repaired by a local glass shop and passes Pennsylvania inspection. Also, the windshield gasket leaks in heavy rain and this area should be worked on soon. Otherwise the windshield and the paint are functionally intact. It comes with power mirrors but the passenger mirror does not adjust. The "Weekender" interior is complete, with a few tears here and there but all the equipment is in place. The rear seat is a rock-and-roll bed that folds flat for camping or extra cargo space. There are OE curtains all around. The windows have dark tinting. There are holes drilled in the rear deck area for a swing-away bike rack similar to the kind offered by Gary Lee in Alberta. This is for your information only - I do not have one and one is not offered with the Vanagon. Overall, this Syncro is in great shape, runs as it should, and has a current Pennsylvania inspection sticker.Engine was rebuilt in 2012, no leaks.
