Description of 1979 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

After 28 years of owning this fabulous car, I am with resistance ready to part ways. We moved to a new home on the coast in 2010, cannot garage the car and my car covers keep getting stolen on the street. Thus it is time for a new home. This VW bug has spent it's lifetime in San Diego, CA and has wonderful memories!

The1979 VW Convertible Superbeetle has fuel injection and was the "champagne edition" (all white interior, exterior and top) manufactured the last year they made these cars. Classic Karmann. The "used" black top was put on in 2011. I purchased the car from the original owner in 1989 and have all maintenance records from 1979 to present, along with two maintenance manuals (VW Repair Manual and "For Dummies"). It runs well and passed CA smog in April 2016. Body in good condition with little rust except for the bottom pan which should be replaced (rails in good shape); some spot rust is starting on the body from sitting on street. Odometer reads 91,223 (191,223); engine was rebuilt in LA in 1998 and has 30,295 miles on rebuilt engine. Could use cosmetic upgrades (upholstery, liner, floor mats, carpet in back was removed during body work, paint touch-ups, cracks in dashboard vinyl) and other minor items.Speedometer is making "spinning" noise (fixed twice in 28 years). Shifting diagram on dashboard, front license plate, boot cover for top and small chrome holders for wing windows were stolen; replaced window holders with metal clamps. Original radio does not work. Mechanically in good shape with significant work done the past couple years:

Passed CA smog April 2016

Odometer: 90,450 miles (actual 190K); ~30,295 on rebuilt engine (rebuilt at 160, 928 in 1998)

New suspension -- rack & pinion, tie rods, struts, etc. -- August 2010

New Fuel Pump Relay - March 2015

All new air hoses and fuel lines -- May 2015

New battery -- Feb 2016

Rebuilt Mass Air Flow Meter -- April 2016

New generator - April 2016

New tires - April 2017

New brakes and master cylinder - April 2017

More details available upon request. Trying to disclose as much as possible about the condition and history of the car. My car has been serviced by good VW mechanics over the years. Will work with the buyer to arrange for shipping. Buyer pays shipping costs.
