Description of 1965 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Deluxe |
THE DELUXE MICROBUS 9 PASSENGER was Volkeswagen's top-of-the-line transporter. The DELUXE wasessentially a normal Microbus with an extra window added to each side. The Deluxe Microbes also had fancy trim attached to the exterior that consisted of flat polished aluminum molding that held a colored plastic bead down its' center, as well as fancy rubber trim affixed to the face of the bumpers, frontand rear. Most Deluxe Microbuses were ordered as "Samba" models that included a sliding canvas sunroof flanked by 4 skylight windows on each side of the roof (that is a 23 window bus through 1963 and a 21 window bus starting in 1964. When ordering a new bus, a customer could specify M-code M-130 if theywanted a "hardtop." Hardtop Microbuses without the sunroof and the 8 skylights are more rare than theSamba version, and are often called "13" window buses. The nine passenger version also had a "bulkhead" front bench seat. The middle and rear seat are also full bench seats. THIS 1965 DELUX MICROBUS was built for driving and enjoying. It comes with special rack and pinion front steering from Creative Engineering located in the UK. The bus is equipped with narrowed front and rear torsion with ball joint front hubs from Franklin Works in Kent Washington. This bus may be raised to stock level (see photos, or lowered. Included in this sale are tires for use when the suspension is in a "lowered" position (10 x 17 rear wheels and 8 x 17 front). In addition, the bus has Franklin's Red Willow four wheel disc brakes.
