Description of 1956 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon |
Up for auction is a very rare and very desirable 1956 23 window deluxe. Deluxe buses this early rarely come to market. This is your opportunity to own a very collectible and very desirable bus! With the demand for window buses soaring, there are many cloned 21 and 23 window busesbeing put together. Quite a few listed here on Ebay and offered for sale are Brazilian clones, or Indonesianbuilt fakes. This is the real deal, documented with a birth certificate from VW of Germany. This is a March of 56 Wolfsburg built bus. On the 19th of April, 1956, All bus production at the Wolfsburg plant was ceased, and moved to Hanover. "barndoor" buseswere built until 1955. Post barndoor, Wolfsburg built busesare very rare, as they were only produced for 2 and a half months. They share some features with the barndoor busses, that all Hanover built busesdo not. This 23 window deluxe has undergone a complete nut and bolt restoration, using most all of it original and correct parts. It was professionallybuilt, and has had no expense spared. It finished in Chestnut Brown over Sealing Wax red. Beautiful correctly restored interior. This is a 9 passenger bus. Correct Mohair headliner. Original door handels, window cranks, and sliding rag handles inside. Original taillights and reflectors. Correct steel pressed bumpers, with correct Wolfsburg small license plate opening on front. The drivetrain has been upgraded to make the bus more derivable, and it does that very well. It cruises 75mph with ease. I have had it on a few long trips and it performs very well. The engine has been upgraded to a 1904 with dual Webber 44s. It was recently gone through and recieved lots of new parts. The trans is a new freeway flyer from Benco, and has a tall 4 gear for highway cruising. The entire undercarriage has been detailed and painted. All seals replaced. All chrome redone. It has front and rear safari windows. Fresh paint, professionallyfinished in base coat / clear coat, cut and buffed to a mirror finish. A barndoor steering wheel and factory original ambulance fan were added. It has a nice sounding hidden stereo that can easily be removed. The bus is a joy to drive. I have owned hundreds of classic cars, and have had more fun in this bus than any other vehicle I have ever driven. It puts a smile on your face, as well as everyone that sees it. A pleasure to own and drive. It runs, drives, stops, and steers great! Pack In the photos you will see that the trim rings were not installed in the passengerside. They are now on the bus. If you are serious about this bus, and would like to own it today, feel free to call me and discuss it. Serious inquires only please. Please take time to allow the pics to load. I encourage any interested buyer to come see the car in person. Please take your time to look through the photos and read the ad before calling.
