Description of 1991 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon |
1991 VOLKSWAGEN VANAGON SYNCRO, 250 HP SUBARU SVX ENGINE, CHIPPED AND TUNED, STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST, DECOUPLER 2WD TO 4WD ON THE FLY, LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL, TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT IN 2007, TALLER 3RD AND 4TH, 16" MERCEDES WHEELS (5), OLD MAN EMU'S, LTX TIRES 225/70/16 (5) SPARE HAS A LITTLE WEAR ON ONE EDGE BUT IS VERY GOOD, BIG BRAKE KIT INSTALLED ON FRONT, HEAVY DUTY DRUMS ON REAR, FULL RUBBER MATTING INSIDE 9/10, INTERIOR CLEAN, 9/10, EXTERIOR CLEAN 8/10, FRONT DOORS POWER LOCKS, FRONT WINDOWS POWER WINDOWS, WINDOW VENTS, H4 HEADLIGHTS WITH PROTECTORS (2 COVERS ON EACH), MARSHALL DRIVING LIGHTS (100 WATT, SOFT AND HARD COVERS), HIGH BEAMS CONVERTED WITH RELAYS TO DRIVING LIGHTS, SWING AWAY TIRE CARRIER, 1 7/8 HITCH USED FOR BIKES AND NOT TOWING, TINTED WINDOWS ALL THE WAY AROUND. WHEN I BOUGHT THE VAN THE OWNER STATED THAT IT HAD STARTED DEVELOPING A SLIGHT GRIND IN 3RD. THIS STARTED AFTER THE STAGE TWO CLUTCH WAS INSTALLED AND NOT BEFORE. I HAVE HEARD THAT EVERYTHING IN THE NEW CLUTCH MUST BE GREASED RIGHT OR IT COULD HANG UP AND CAUSE THE GRIND OR IT COULD NEED A NEW 3RD GEAR? FACTOR THAT INYOUR BIDDING... I HAVE 4 VANS, 3 SYNCROS AND ONE 2WD (2 ARE SUBARU AND 2 ARE STOCK). I HAVE DRIVEN THIS VAN FOR 3 YEARS AND CAN DRIVE IT WITHOUT THE GRIND, JUST SHIFT RIGHT. I WOULD GET IN THIS VAN AND DRIVE IT CROSS COUNTRY JUST LIKE IT IS WITH OUT A THOUGHT. IF YOU WORK ON THEM, EASY FIX AND NOT THAT EXPENSIVE. IF YOU DON'T THE BEST THING TO DO IS TO REBUILD THE TRANSAXLE AGAIN WITH UPDATED PARTS, HEAVY DUTY WEDDLE GEARS, OILING PLATES, WELDED SLIDES, OIL COOLER, ETC... OR JUST KEEP DRIVING IT LIKE IT IS TILL IT REALLY NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED, IT COULD KEEP GOING FOR YEARS DRIVEN RIGHT.THE A/C IS ALL PIPED AND HOOKED UP BUT HAS NEVER BEEN EVACUATED AND FILLED, IT SHOULD WORK FINE. I HAVE NEVER HAD A/C AND NEVER MISSED IT. TIRES HAVE SOME CRACKING ON THEM FROM BEING DRY BUT ARE SOLID AND HAVE GREAT TREAD. I HAVE REMOVED MOST OF THE PIN STRIPING, SOME GLUE RESIDUE STILL NEEDS TO BE CLEANED. THE PAINT IS REALLY GOOD AND MY PLAN WAS TO FINISH CLEANING UP THE GLUE AND THEN HAVE IT BUFFED OUT AT THE PAINT SHOP, SEE HOW IT LOOKED AND THEN CONSIDER AN ORIGINAL WIDE SILVER PIN STRIPE OR LEAVE IT. CHECK YOUR PRICES: WHAT IS A STOCK CLEAN 1991 SYNCRO WORTH? 15K TO 20K? WHAT WOULD IT COST TO HAVE THIS CONVERSION DONE? 20K? SO THE VAN IS WORTH 35K TO 40K? I AM LOSING MONEY BUT BEING FAIR IN CASE THE TRANSAXLE NEEDS TO BE DONE. THE VAN DRIVES AWESOME AND WOULD BE A GREAT TRAVELING MACHINE WHEN DONE. I JUST DON'T HAVE TIME TO GET TO IT. I AM WORKING ON MY WHITE VAN AT THE BOTTOM (LAST PICTURE) TO HEAD TO ALASKA IN APRIL. I AM GOING TO TRY TO LIVE OUT OF MY VAN FOR 6 MONTHS. CHECK OUT VIRGINIALOVEBUS ON THE NET TO SEE WHO I AM. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THESE VANS SINCE I WAS 16, LOVE THEM, WORK ON THEM AND KNOW WHAT THEY ARE WORTH. A LITTLE CASH AND SOME ELBOW GREASE AND YOU WILL HAVE ONE AWESOME TRAVELING MACHINE. THE VAN IS SOLD AS-IS BUT I BACK UP MY DESCRIPTION 100%. RACK SYSTEM NOT INCLUDED BUT CAN BE PURCHASED IF YOU HAVE TO HAVE IT. I ALSO HAVE A SET OF 5 BRAND NEW 205/80/16'S WITH 5 16" CLK WHEELS NOT MOUNTED YET THAT I WOULD PART WITH FOR THE RIGHT $$$, YOU WILL NEED LIFT SPRINGS FOR THESE TIRES AND WHEELS, I HAVE AN EXTRA SET OF THESE ALSO FOR THE RIGHT $$$. THESE TIRES WERE RUN ON 16" SYNCROS AND ARE A GOOD FIT FOR AN SVX CONVERSION. FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS, HONEST AS CAN BE. CHECK MY FEEDBACK:) IT'S A SWEET VAN:) |
