Description of 1963 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Bug - Original CA Car - Restored - NO RESERVE!!

1963 Volkswagen Beetle

Type 1 - Sedan

Clean Title - Restored

The Volkswagen Beetle is one of the most iconic cars in automotive history. It is considered by many to be as influential and important as the Model T. The original design was so impressive and well made that its basic design was continually built for more than 50 years. Over the years there were many different slight design and styling changes. However, the 1963 model year is considered among enthusiast as the best year of the VW Bug. This is for many reasons, but has Hagerty said "the 1963 was inexpensive, but it was not cheap. They were well assembled, used first rate interior materials and have the charm thats lacking in the later cars." The 63 is the last model year that truely harkens back and traces its routes to the original design by Josef Ganz. After 1963 they started becoming cheaper, more mass produced and lesser grade. The higher build quality of the 1963 is obvious when compared to the other cars, from the glass covered, Porsche style headlights, the higher gauge steel fenders, the better sculpted steel bumpers and most dramatically the interior is superior. The material qualit, white wheel and painted body color dash is the best. The 1963 is the Beetle to have if you want to collect, drive, and enjoy.

This particular 1963 is unlike any other. The car came from the German factory in the very desirable Gulf Blau, or Gulf Blue. The history of this car is traced back to San Francisco, California in 1963. In fact, it still has its original "63" stamped California black license plates. It was driven in the Bay Area until the early 70's when it was sold to some family friends who owned it for nearly 40 years. It was only a couple years ago when the restoration work began. The car had no major rust and the original fenders, bonnet and lid were all used in the restoration. The pan was in such good shape, it was simply degreased, scuffed down and had POR15 applied throughout to prevent any future rust. The seats were recovered and feel soft to the touch. The numbers matching 1200cc engine and transmission were built and work impressively. The new roof rack was installed, along with tires and the original wheels. The professional paint shines well and would be great to show! The striking blue is my absolute favorite, and yes, it does still have its original "Gulf Blau" sticker inside the rust free spare tire area. This 1963 Volkswagen Beetle is truly the best of its kind and shines above all the other Beetle's on the market.

The auction is NO RESERVE, so best of luck. Please do all inspections prior to bidding as the sale is as-is, with no warranty, expressed or implied with mileage exempt due to age. I wish I didn't have to sell, it is a California clean title, currently registered until November 2018.

Good luck, this 1963 Bug is the truly special.
