Description of 1964 Volkswagen Type III |
Here is a very very nice low mileage 1964 Volkswagen notchback purchased in Germany and recently imported here to the states. This car has had a life of great ease with only 88,000 KM on the speedo and looks like its never been left outside in the elements but instead garage kept! A true time capsule!! This is a true 50k original mile car that is basically bone stock aside from the interior carpet and use of a low hours German built 1600 dual industrial engine. At some point in the cars life the original engine was removed and replaced with a donor engine. At this point the correct matching number engine was properly stored and kept with the car. When the car was purchased and brought here to the US the engine was also shipped and again remains with the car. The engine upon arrival was sent out to be repaired and is now ready to be installed into the car. I myself see no reason to change out the engine and have just decided to store it for now and leave that decision to the next owner. So with that said this is a complete matching number car! The interior of this car is completely original and stock aside from the upgrade to carpet over the factory installed rubber mats. To me after having this car and enjoying it the carpet is the only thing I feel the car needs to be one of the best low mileage original type 3 notchbacks in the US right now! Over all the interior of this car is unbelievable and is just another indication of this cars well kept life. The exterior of the car is amazing with almost all of its original paint still intact and in great condition and ZERO rust !! From what I can see the left front fender and hood have been resprayed in the past and to my surprise the color match was done extremely well. The car runs and drives but should be looked over by your mechanic prior to being driven regularly.
