Description of 1964 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic |
Nice, unmolested 64 beetle. Matching body and pan numbers. Plenty of new and replaced parts. Brand new starter, new brake drums, replaced coil, rebuilt carburetor, rotor and cap, 12 volt conversion with upgraded 12 volt generator, regulator, battery...etc. Some new brake lines as well. Clean and clear PA title in my name. Starts, runs and drives smooth. New heater boxes in rear. Heat channels are pretty solid. Door bottoms are nice. Spare tire area is solid. Some of the notorious rust areas are fine. The battery box was replaced at some point and needs done again. It wasn't a great job, and has rusted again. The rear floor is probably the worst rust on the car. A little up front at the end of the driver side heat channel where it meets the A pillar (also very common). You could drive as is, or restore. The original interior is even still under the seat covers. Someone stretched these covers right over the factory. The driver's seat cover is failing. 4 Brand new tires, 0 miles on them. Has all its Sekurit VW Glass, and Hella turn signals. Dash is uncut with original Sapphire I radio. Replaced window seals all around. Needs running boards, the drivers side is very weak. Horn has a button on the steering column, but it blows fine when pressed. It shifts smooth and doesn't make any noises. Goes down the road straight and the engine is smooth and quiet like a good VW should be. Ask any questions. I have more pictures and will tell you what I know. I bought it thinking I was going to do a full interior and new chrome, but I have an other car that I want to focus time on and need money for. It also needs a headliner. Overall, I think its a great car, and on the East Coast. Plus its a 1964. The last of the smaller window bugs that are more sought after and collectible. Paint is old, but shines up nice with some wax. Has plenty of flaws and scratches. This is not a show car. I believe the dash, door jams...etc are OG paint. doesn't appear to have been wrecked ever. The trunk has some peeling paint. The luggage tray has a patch, but nicer than a lot I have seen. All of the engine tins appear correct and in place. Does not leak a lot, but does drip a few drops of oil after sitting. Axle boots are cracked and need replaced. Gas Gauge seems to work fine, speedo does not. Idiot lights come on with key, so I think they are working. New alternator belt also.Engine bay is very solid and nice. Carpet is all nice. I would plan to go through the car before driving it. Again, its been sitting. Check brakes...etc. I would be happy to show it in person. Please ask all questions, and only bid if serious. I also have a short video of it idling, and one walk around I could email. |
