Description of 1965 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic deluxe |
Collector quality 1965 Deluxe sedan in Ruby red with 100% original interior and low mileage. Exterior, glass-out respray in 1995 with no evidence of collision, corrosion or abuse. The single-stage ruby red paint is excellent. The original owner “Ruth” from Lake Forest, Illinois sold the car to her next door neighbor “Roger” in 1992 with 23,155 miles. Googlearthing the address reveals these were very well-to-do folks. Fifteen years later, and 10,000 miles down the roa, Roger sold it to “Carla” in Atascadero, who appeared to own a sprawling horse ranch. It is believed that Ruby received the paint work during her ownership. In 2015, Ruby found her way down to Oxnard with 42,771 miles into the arms of a vintage air cooled enthusiast “Allen”. Allen enjoyed the car in his retirement and today, the car has about 47,000 miles. The long-term, mature ownership history of this special beetle is evident today as you study every detail. I have owned her for over a year, and have moisturized the paint and interior and detailed and preserved her top to bottom. It appears that Ruby has never been stored outdoors, or exposed to winter conditions in her early life, because of how well the original interior has survived. Original seat covers, door panels, square weave carpets, rubber mats, headliner, knobs, steering wheel, handles, etc. I have had all new ATE wheel cylinders installed, all new German brake shoes, and all new drums installed this month. New tires have about 500 miles on them. The electrical system was converted to 12-volt, with a new (not rebuilt) Bosch 912 generator, yet still retains the 6V starter (which is brand new Bosch, not rebuilt). The engine starts with just a quick *kiss* of the key, and all operations of this car…idle, acceleration, steering and braking are very smooth and nimble, just as a tight, low-mile Volkswagen should be. Original jack, owners manual, spare tire, under bonnet cardboard are all in place. I am happy to provide further photos and information. Clean California title in my name. I welcome inspections of this special car! |
