Description of 1962 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

1962 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible

I'm selling my 1962 Volkswagen Beetle convertible. I purchased it semi-finished a couple years ago and have put quite a bit of work into it with the goal of making it a nice reliable car. I've enjoyed driving it but I have a new project now so it's got to go.

Ithas been repainted in a very striking pearl yellow and white. The paint is a few years old and shows some wear here and there but is still very presentable. The body is stock apart from shaved front turn signals and earlier model tailights. I haven't seen any evidence of rust anywhere on the body or chassis.

The bug's interior has been redone in grey and black tweed with grey carpet. It has a Grant woodrim steering wheel and an EMPI short throw shifter. I added a Retrosound Bluetooth stereo with a pair of 6x9 speakers behind the rear seat and a single front speaker in the stock location.

When I bought the car, it had no top so I had a new Haartz stayfast canvas one installed as well as new wooden bows, padding kit, headliner and top seals. I also installed new rubber seals for all of the windows, doors, etc.

The engine that came with the car ran well but was tired and leaky so it was rebuilt. It is a 1776cc with a counterweighted crankshaft, Engle 110 cam, Bosch 009 distributor with electronic ignition, header exhaust and a Weber two barrel carburator. The transmission has been replaced with a rebuilt 12 volt unit from a 1967 bug but the original "short" axles were retained. It's not a race car but it has more than enough power to keep up with traffic. I've put around 700 miles on it.

It has been lowered in the front with an adjustable beam and a CB performance lowered spindle disc brake setup with stainless brake lines front and rear. The wheels are reproduction BRM's with 135 tires up front and 205/65's in back.

I feel that I need to point out that this is not a show car. As I said previously, the paint is several years old and as such has imperfections here and there. The front apron is a little beat up like most lowered bugs.

I would not be afraid to jump in it and drive across the country. It is respectable enough to take to any car shows or cruises but not be afraid of getting a rock chip while driving it.I have a clear Colorado title in my name. I am happy to sell to overseas buyers. I do not offer shipping but I will be happy to coordinate pickup with your shipper.
