Description of 1973 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic |
1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle, new paint in original color Biscay Blue and new Silver Gray leatherette upholstery.75,836 Miles on the odometer. Matching numbers, original 4 speed manual transmission, and rebuilt original engine. The Car was brought back to as much original appearance as practical. In the last photo there are pages from Volkswagen’s 1973 catalog so you can see the comparison of this car to the factory car. Body: The car has new acrylic urethane paint in the original color – Biscay Blue. Floor pans are new and solid (see photo of body pan, second to last picture). Body trim is in good shape. Car has new brake calipers and disk brakes in the rear. New urethane bushings in front end control arm and sway bar. New seals around doors, windows, and trunk along with new window felt. Does not have a spare tire or jack. Interior: New seat upholstery in original color Silver Gray, new black carpet that matches original color, new headliner. The original dashboard was refinished and shows nicely – it is not a dash topper. New door and side panels. Windows, heater, controls and switches work. Seat belts are original and are operational. Seat belt warning buzzer is disconnected. Interior parts, knobs, handles, etc., have been refinished. The car does not have a radio or speakers. There is a blank-off plate on the dash where a radio can be installed. Drive Train: The car has the original engine and it has been rebuilt. The engine has less than 50 miles on the rebuild so you should change the oil again in about 300 miles. The engine was rebuilt using 88mm diameter thick wall cylinders and pistons, giving a displacement of 1679cc and maintaining a compression ratio of 7.3:1. The cylinder heads were opened to 90.5mm to accept the thick wall cylinders and the head are 57cc with new valves, valve guides and springs (work performed by Car Craft, Riverside, CA). Transmission shifts into all of the gears and the original shifter was replaced with and EMPI shifter for faster shifting between gears. Also included are the original pistons and cylinders if you would like them. They seem to be in decent shape. A pint of paint and some light bulbs. Title and Registration: The car is currently registered and insured in my name and has a clear title. However, Georgia is a non-title state meaning that for older cars a paper title is not provided. I will provide the signed vehicle registration, along with a Georgia state bill of sale. These are the documents needed to register a vehicle from a “non-title†state to a title state or another non-title state. I will be happy to provide other documents if required by your state.
