Description of 1966 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Walk-Thru Deluxe |
Up for sale is one of the nicest Volkswagen buses on theplanet. This " Bad Ass " real deal German VW 13 window bus is not a 1968 Brazilian Bus orcloned deluxe bus. It’s the real deal and the registration numbersprove it. I am the second owner of this west coast bus and have restorednumerous vehicles. The ground up restoration of this vehicle is toonumerous to list, but I will give it a shot. This bus had little or no rust or rot from the start andwhat little there was, I replaced with metal patch panels. It was taken down to bare metal, had professional body workand a custom paint job with custom lime green gold and pearl-white three-stagepaint and multiple layers of clear. The paint job and body work alone was$25,000.00. The whole suspension was dropped and the front end wasnarrowed to accommodate custom 17†aluminum rims and tires. Wilwood disk brakeswere added up front, and I installed a rebuilt motor with twin carbs, an oilcooling system and custom exhaust and a Rancho freeway flyer overdrive tranny. I installed a custom green interior, headliner and carpet toresemble the patterns and feels of the original VW interiors as well as acustom stainless steel and wood baggage tray in the rear of the vehicle. I removed the fried egg blinkers from the front of thevehicle and cut, shaved and tucked in the rear and front bumpers. I alsoremoved the original tail lights and installed 1959 bus tail lights for acleaner appearance while maintaining the original vintage feel.Iadded pop out windows to the two back side windows and chromed all the sidewindows as well. I also added front and rear pop outs and a Westphalia stainlesssteel luggage roof rack. It has a new wiring harness and all electrical componentshave been restore or replaced with new components. All handles, cover plates, brackets, glass, nuts and boltshave been refinished or replaced with new. This bus is a labor of love that took me five years to completewith attention to every detail. It’s kept in a climate-controlled garage andhas been lovingly used over the last couple of years. It’s a breathtakinglybeautiful, dependable and road worthy bus, with modern upgrades making it easyand a pleasure to drive in modern traffic and at high speeds. This bus is ajaw-dropping crowd pleaser that generates smiles and crowds wherever you go,ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. As is where is. I would be more then happy to help with the shipping details on my end if needed. Please call me with any questions 631-445-1850 from 830 am-8 pm Eastern Standard Time.Thanks. Dan |
