Description of 1964 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic |
This 1964 Volkswagen Beetle has been given big investments so that you can really show off that unmistakably iconic look. But more than just vintage, as you dig a little deeper, you are going to see some well-integrated upgrades that make this a great cruisier - including air conditioning. Yes, this classic bug really does have cold-blowing A/C! Beetle aficionados cherish these years because of the craftsmanship that goes into the earlier cars. You see it everywhere from the vents under the headlights, to the "W" decklid (one of the last years for this desirable feature.) There has been a nice restoration investment in this car that you can really see in the details, like the beautiful full-length trim, color-match wheels with two-piece trim, bright whitewall tires, and mirror-like bumpers. There are even some nice period-correct upgrades, like the headlight eyebrows and the roof rack with wooden slats. This classic Beetle look is wrapped in a recent application of Carbon Steel paint. It's the perfect gray color to represent an earlier bug, and yet, it also has a nice clearcoat shine to remind everyone that you're looking at something truly special. The VW signature spartan interior provides a perfect backdrop for a very thoughtful package. The exterior custom paint returns on all the metal pieces to make it looks like this modern color was dipped at the factory. The red and light gray door cards continue a thoughtful package that you see on the dash and seats. And because all of this looks and feels fresh from a recent investment, you'll really love showing it off. Plus, it has all the right classic details, like the VDO speedometer with separate fuel gauge and the dual-spoke steering wheel with Wolfsburg crest in the center. And while the correct-style AM radio is still on display, the real driving tunes come from an AM/FM/CD stereo hidden in the glove box. That way you can upgrade your music without jeopardizing the vintage feeling. And speaking of feeling, this has a nicely integrated R134a air conditioning system. It's a truly rare feature that makes this VW the one that you'll enjoy even in the summertime. The engine bay is a very clean marvel of simplicity - just what these Beetles should be. The very tidy 1200cc horizontally-opposed four-cylinder engine is topped by the Solex single-barrel carburetor. It fires up easily with a magical buzz that only an air-cooled motor can. These are far from the most powerful motors out there, but it's the engineering that makes the VW legendary. The rear mounted motor gives the car good traction, and doesn't have the power loss associated with a large driveshaft. The four-cylinder is built to be stout and run all day without overheating thanks to air cooling. Also, you get to make the most out of this motor with the control of the four-speed manual transmission. The result is a nippy little car. But let's face it, when it looks this good, you want to be going slow enough so everyone gets a good stare at this bug. This is a special machine in every way (the actual miles odometer even suggests this has averaged less than 1,300 mile annually.) So when you see big investments in classic style and modern comfort on an iconic like this, then you know it's an irresistible deal. Call today!!! |
