Description of 1990 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon BUS |
|
For sale is my beloved 1990 Vanagon. This beautiful van started life in Arizona where it spent several years cruising the desert climate. It exchanged owners in the 2000s and moved to Los Angeles, California where it continued to avoid any harsh climates. While it was in LA, this van received a new power plant which is its most notable modification setting it van apart from others. A 230HP 3.3L Subaru SVX (EG33) out of a 1992 SVX was completely rebuilt and installed in the Vanagon using the Small Car Performance kit and a Kennedy Adapter kit. This modern reliable non-interference engine was installed when the van read about 120k on the odometer. This common and high-quality engine conversion is popular and well-supported among the Vanagon community and is a great choice to replace a tired under-powered 2.1L Waterboxer. Following this, and many other tasteful upgrades, the van exchanged hands again and moved to Somerville. It lived in Somerville in a garage for a few years where it was mainly used as weekend getaway camper to drive up to Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine. There is a slight power steering fluid leak at the reservoir and the AC lines will need to hooked up and the system will need to be cleaned and charged by a professional AC shop. Bottom Line: Van is COMPLETELY RUST FREE!! New England usually eats through poor Vanagons and it would be near impossible to find another one this clean in the area. The SVX Engine is a strong reliable conversion that adds much needed horsepower to a Vanagon making it a blast to drive with piece of mind. Van has been meticulously maintained and upkept with multiple thousands invested in upgrades with at least $20k in just the engine conversion. |
