"Please see 2 videos on You tube just search daves 1989 VW Golf Schiftys Muscle cars " I am going to add another video soonUp for bid is my 1989 VW Golf GL 5 Speed that I purchased in Jan 2004 from an Air Force solider that was stationed in Germany where they bought the car new, THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN GERMANY AND SHIPPED TO LOS ANGELES AFTER THEY WERE DISCHARGED FROM THE AIR FORCE. I am the second owner of this car and the actual mileage is correct and documented as shown 164,677. (I have clean California Title) I have all maintenance records from birth. The miles are very low because it has been in storage since Fall 2008. I purchased this car originally as a fuel efficient daily driver for commuting to work. it was used in that fashion for a year and a half and it got old manipulating the clutch in LA traffic everyday so it turned into a weekend track car. so I began some modifications.I installed Neuspeed: Front 25mm Sway Bar, Rear 28mm Sway Bar, Front upper Strut Tie-Bar, Rear upper Strut Tie-Bar, P-Flo Cold Air intake Kit, Short Shiftier Kit and adjustable Cam Gear.I installed fully adjustable KONI struts and coils all the way around. Schrick Aluminum Oil Pan-larger capacity, Competition Eurospec Head, Schrick 280 degree camHawkHPS Performace Brake Pads, Hawk cross drilled rotors, steel braided lines in the front only, Brake system flushed and serviced with Pentosin Super Dot 4Motegi TR/Tracklite Forged Aluminum Wheels 15, Falken Azenis Tires 205/50/15Momo 350MM Competition Steering Wheel, Matching Momo Gear ShifterInstalled, 3 Pole fan Switch, 180 Degree Water thermostatI stopped weekend racing and concentrated my time with family and other hobbies. After nearly 12 years in storage, mostly on my 16Ft trailer or inside my 18Ft car hauler I brought her back to life.I removed the fuel tank cleaned it and reinstalled it, replaced low pressure and high pressure fuel pumps and filter. Replaced Fuel pressure solenoid, installed new battery, performed full tune up: plugs, wires, cap, rotor, new oil and filter, replaced engine vacuum hoses and adjusted timing and she starts right up now. the car now runs, drives and stops real good. all the glass is good, both front seals are in real nice condition and the seal belts still look new. I removed the carpet and the floor is perfect, no signs of corrosion, the original paint is heavily faded and showing patina, there is 3 small spots of corrosion that i have taken photos of, just bubbling paint now, one small spot below the windshield, one small spot below both sides of quarter window, The dash panel looks great. The VW Golf issues: 1:needs paint 2:grinds a bit when "speed shifting" into second gear(if you shift it slow it works fine) 3:needs headliner and other interior panels 4:needs stereo, someone broke in and stole it 5:Needs instrument cluster trim piece bezel ( it is broken from when they stole stereo) 6: The exhaust pipe vibrates underneath the car a little bit ( exhaust system needs repair/replace hangers) 7:Needs tires ( current ones are dry rotted) 8: Has exhaust leak and missing one of 2 mufflers. 9: the leather sterring wheel is starting to seperate from sun damage and age. 10 the door cards look very nice but are rough around the edges. 11 someone tried to break in through passenger door bewteen door and door pillar there are a few small dents on door pillar as seen in you tube pics I have many photos i am gonna try and put on you tube. please check you tube for videos, search, copy and paste this : schiftys muscle cars daves 1989 vw golfi am going to add more videos on you tube, thanks for lookin, please ask questions, i have this for sale locally as well here in Los Angeles, I can deliver this car to your location for a fee. thanks
