Description of 1971 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon |
This 1971 Volkswagen Bus is a Westfalia “Weekender†camper and is powered by a dual-port flat-four 1600 paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. The van was repainted Chianti Red with a Pastel White, reupholstering the black interior, replacing the shocks, and refreshing the engine, electrical components, ignition system, and more. Equipment includes H4 headlights, a fold-down rear bench, a refrigerator, table, wood paneling, and curtains. This Type 2 “bay window†Bus is now offered with parts receipts, repair manuals, spare parts and accessories, and a clean California title. The exterior was taken to bare metal and repainted Chianti Red with a Pastel White roof and bumpers in 2009 following the completion of body work. Replacement bay windows were added during the repaint, along with new seals for the windshield and glass. A roof rack has been added, along with H4 headlights and yellow fog lights mounted below the front bumper. Paint flaws, scratches, and dings are pointed out in the extended gallery and I have provided a link to the 370 photos. White 14″ steel wheels wear chrome hub caps and Yokohama Supervan 356 tires sized 185R. Sachs shocks have been fitted along with replacement sway bar bushings. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The front cabin is upholstered in black with replacement carpets and rubber mats. Equipment includes a lower parcel shelf and period-style aftermarket head unit. Instrumentation consists of a 90-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a fuel level gauge, and a five-digit odometer indicating just under 81k miles. The rear compartment features wood-style paneling and checker board flooring. The rear bench seat folds down into a bed, and additional equipment includes a table, side curtains, a power inverter, and a refrigerator. Black out panels are also included in the sale, along with mosquito screens. A Noco on-board battery chargerhas been added as well as a second "house" battery on the left side of the engine compartment which get's independentlychargedwhile the bus is driving and is used to power the bus when it is stopped so you don't drain the main battery. A Bugpack exhaust system has also been added, and additional photos of the underbody, suspension, wheel wells, and brakes are viewable in the gallery. This is a great example of a 1971 BAY model that has mountains of upgrades and all the photo'sand documents to back it up. Terms of sale are a $250 non-refundable deposit at the close of the auction via PayPal with the balance due in 7 days with cashiers check or bank transfer. Bus is for sale on several other platforms so this listing can be ended at any given time.Buyer is responsible for all expenses involved with pickup or shipping.
