Description of 1970 Volkswagen Beetle (Pre-1980) 2 door |
Vehicle Details This 1970 Volkswagen Beetle is a modified example that received roof and glass chop and is refinished in purple over two-tone gray and purple cloth upholstery. Power is provided by an air-cooled flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes dual carburetors, custom taillights, aftermarket 15″ wheels, bolstered front seats, a Lecarra steering wheel, custom gauges, and an EMPI shifter. The car was originally a factory convertible that received a windshield, side glass, and roof chop before a color change to purple were carried out during previous ownership. The door handles have been shaved, and features include body-color bumpers with license plate cut-outs, custom taillights, dual side mirrors, black headlight trim, and dual exhaust outlets. Stone chips are noted on the front fascia, and a touch-up spot is noted on the driver’s side fender. Aftermarket 15″ wheels feature body-color accents and wear older 195/60 Road Hugger tires. The suspension is reportedly lowered from the factory ride height, and braking is handled by four-wheel drums. The interior has been reupholstered in gray and purple cloth and features bolstered front sport seats, a rear bench, a center armrest, a custom center console, an EMPI shifter, and billet-style window cranks. The Lecarra steering wheel frames a column-mounted tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit odometer shows 8k miles, though total mileage is unknown. The air-cooled flat-four was reportedly bored to 1,835cc and is fitted with dual carburetors, an external oil cooler, an aftermarket generator and pulley, and polished accessories. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. Thanks and happy bidding Please contact me for any questions you may have |
