Vehicle Details Vehicle is in very good to excellent condition. Current mileage is 29,156 original miles. This vehicle has only had two previous owners. Current owner is the third titled owner. 1978 Champagne Edition II Beetles were all convertibles, available for only one model year, with only two color options; Anacona Blue Metallic and Peach Red Metallic. The Peach Red Metallic (Only 300 made in this color) that graces the curvaceous body of this Beetle is a classy color. It shows some age, but it is believed to be the original paint that was sprayed at the factory. No matter which color was applied to the CE II, a sand colored top and boot was included. Inside is the exclusive Champagne Edition II white vinyl interior. It endures it’s factory configuration and presents very well. The pleated front bucket seats have been recovered, are firm and look like they belong in a sports car rather that a VW Beetle. The rear bench seat features tight vinyl that is very clean. Also exclusive to the CEII is the burled elm wood inflated dash. The dash in this car is glossy, crack free, and looks great with the wood/black contrast. It’s a pretty simple design that doesn’t host much more beyond a AM/FM radio, a quartz clock, a speedometer, and switches for the lights, and heater/defrost controls. The white door panels are tight with contrasting black cranks and handles. When these cars were originally sold new, supposedly, each dealer only got two of these special edition convertibles. Sales sky rocketed and these Champagne Edition II cars were stored away by collectors.
